Talking about flood and roads, low-lying roads in Nemunas Delta region here in Lithuania are flooded since September for a record long time

I guess unusual floods are due unusual amounts of precipitation in the Baltics

The main "big" projects for coming years have been announced some time ago. They include A7 Ķekava bypass. 75% of the needed property has been already bought by state. Procurement procedure will be started by the end of March and real construction work is expected to start in the second half of 2019.

The next big one is construction of second carriageway for A4 Riga bypass second half in it's whole lenght. Sketch project is already done, and enviornmental impact assessment is expected to be finished this year.

P80/E22 introduction in to Riga. This project is divided in two halves. First one being Riga-A4 and second A4-P80. Sketch project for the first section will be finished by 2020. The second section's sketch project will inly be started this year.

A7 Bauska & Iecava bypass. Not much known currently, only that it's planned to build Bauska bypass first and Iecava after that.

A1 Baltezers bypass and Baltezers-Lilaste section. Alot of problems for this one. First section Riga's Northern highways needs to be built in order to start this project. It was planned to start the project already some time ago, but it was delayed by municipality in order to finish other smaller projects around the city. Baltezers-Lilaste section also can't move forward while Āda˛i municipality hasn't accepted building a 2x2 expressway through it's municipality.

Thanks for an update makaveli6.
Could you please clarify if Kekeva bypass will be 2x2 only for 5 km or for whole segment?

I don't know why they put up two lines parallel to each other there. It's actually the other way around Riga-A5 will be 2x2 and A5-A7 will be one lane in each direction.

Obviously a mistake. Must be exactly the opposite - like you said.

In that case, they should of drawn parallel lines in the other maps too. I can't work out the meaning of the colors too.

Those lines don't represent the number of carriageways, but the length of new roads to be built. That's obviously a cheap graphics designer mistake, since for him/her it was easier to add another line instead of changing the color.

Now, that's easy! Yellow is a brand new road, blue is a reconstruction of an existing one.

And purple? They haven't mentioned V35 anywhere tho.

Reconstruction of V35 is planned but probably not in the near future. As it's a different project it's in a different color - that's how I see it.

If we continue talking about V35 - it depends on Riga plans too. If Riga does nothing with Krustpils street then reconstruction of V35 is rather useless.

Oh, didn't even notice that Maybe indeed it's just a far future plan? Or the designer forgot?

What is the grey dashed line across the river supposed to mean? A sweet dream or something serious?

That is a new alignment of Via Baltica in perspective to avoid the hydroelectric power station and Salaspils town. Nothing serious as for now, just a sweet dream as You mentioned. In fact, most of those projects above are proposed to be built in 20 years time.

So then the already mentioned Via Baltica bridge over Daugava should also be drawn purple, not grey.

BTW, fun fact, they were actually quite serious about building the bridge together with Rail Baltica, but the plans were abandoned just last year.

Of course, they wanted to have two rabbits with one shot using EU money. That's why it probably got cancelled.

In other news, the annual LVC conference was held today revealing planned road works for 2018. But, there are no interesting projects to mention here.

Thought so. I once spent half an hour not only on the dam, but also on A6 (facing Rīga) waiting to get to the dam...

That was probably due to road works time.

Maybe, but it is unfortunate that the dam is the only option on such an important route, apart from driving through the city (which would probably have been better that time, if only I had known when coming from the A1).

Which is why a new bridge would be more than welcome.

I've heard some rumours that it might be possible. These new RB designers seem to be more serious than the previous ones (they were completely incapable of doing anything).
