Today I had a trip on road A6 (Riga - Daugavpils - Belorussian border). I had a great surprise, because traffic level was very high (both cars and trucks). I really don't know how to explain that. It was like in "fat years"...

I heard about ~500 truck queue on Terehova border crossing point.

Nice pics, Hybrid! Strange to note that the closer you get to Estonian border the worse road surface becomes.. It looks as if repair works for Via Baltica didn't reach Northern Vidzeme.. Was that part of A1 on the road reconstructions' list for the coming period?

The bridge over Salaca in Salacgriva was the worst. The asphalt has actually deformed into a lot of "bumps" and to avoid them you must drive on the middle part of the bride - that meas 50% on your lane, 50% on the opposite - or at a speed about 15-20km/h

Road A1 has been reconstructed till ~Svētciems. After that is the old stretch which is in worse condition that all other parts. It may be reconstructed after some time...At least I hope so.

I don't remember bridge of Salacgrīva in details but I remember that it was bad. If i'm not wrong then it belongs to local government and it's the reason of condition of the bridge. Like always, local government has no money for reconstruction.
There was possibility to get money from EU but nothing was done to gain it. Sad...

Unfortunately that's indeed the municipality's fault of that stretch being in such poor condition.. Still, I'm surprised that some govermental structures aren't capable to force the local council to make something, or at least control the expenses of the allocated money for the road reconstruction..

Can't wait to see them. Probably most remote road to be covered.

Ok, here go my pictures. They are quite new (like a week old):

I started taking photos from A12/A13 roundabout:

Ludza:

Start of Ludza bypass:

Ludza again (stretch of Ludza bypass isn't part of town):

Freaky interchange (A12 and P49). Probably one of the worst I have ever seen...

The trip continues (here you see the same A12):

Here starts the new road (Ludza - Nirza - Terehova) that will replace existing A12:

Going to Riga:

That strange interchange in Ludza again:

Well, what could you expect from such distant region of Latvia..? But still, it's not that nothing is going on there, they make a completely new road after all! I wish them luck with EU or Cohesion funds attraction for road reconstruction projects.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to see some road works. Who said that nothing is happening to improve road condition?

As the first goes road P76. I didn't even know that it would be reconstructed but now it's obvious. It was terrible gravel road before but now

serious reconstruction is going on. Asphalt pavement, improved curves and so on. And all that will be about 24 km or something (like the

sign said).

View from road A6 in Koknese. A part of E22 (Tīnūži - Koknese):

And some pictures with E22 (Tīnūži - Koknese) in progress:

Sorry Gatis, but I better won't reveal my personality

I agree that pics are too large, but:
1)I had no time to resize them;
2)I though it would better than post thumbnails like I did before.

You can suggest, which way is better. To post large images or thumbnails and I will continue in the way you prefer.

That repaved P76 would be very useful for travellers to Latgale if it's all paved with asphalt.
Right now most of such drivers use road A6. There is only one suitable alternative - road P73. But you can use it only if you drive to Daugavpils. It's great for such route but you can't use it for driving to Jekabpils, for example. Now it will be possible!

Cool pics, Jevpls. Let the coming shots be the way you posted, not thumbnails, though you could resize them, right on the uploading site.
I'm quite impressed with a regional road being paved with asphalt, instead of gravel, that's a fine direction for right road maintenance, even on some stretches that are not much important. As well, awesome development on E22, everything there looks to be built from ground, nice!

I saw road works on A6, before Līvāni (driving FROM Riga). Seems like the biggest part is done and only the last layer of asphalt is missing. Oh, maybe some shoulders have to be finished too.

I hadn't camera with me...That means no pics.
