Everything is ok, SIA "Binders" are doing this job.

That's good.
I was worried, that because of that complaint works could be postponed for some time!

By the way, who's decision is to change road's status to motorway (or however you call "automaģistrāle") with greater allowed driving speed? Is it CSDD or "Latvijas Valsts ceļi"?
As far as I know, we have to do lots of work to do it:
1) no intersections in one level are allowed;
2) all two level interchanges must have great distance between them (like 5 km);
3) ...and so on...

I have seen some such roads in Lithuania that are marked with well known green sign ( ) and with allowed speed like 100 or 110 km per hour.
And... there were U turns and many intersections in one level... It seems like it makes no problems for them.

^ That's because the motorway statuses of two highways in LT (Kaunas-Klaipeda and Panevežys-Vilnius) were left since Soviet times and no one didn't have anything against some deficiencies that are still there, even EU commission I guess, they let them stay as motorways just because it's a dual carriageway and almost all the way long they are in very good order, mostly with 2-level crossings, even though just few places lack them..

But as for Latvian case, I cannot understand why wasn't A2 (Riga-Sēnīte) awarded this status when it complies by all the means for at least an expressway! And the most strange thing is that after this stretch coming complete reconstruction we wouldn't still get that green sign..

Usually EU doesn't ask that much as we want to do. There is a document called "AGR agreement" or something like that. It RECOMMENDS how our main roads should look like but often we read it as it were mandantory.

Do you have any stretches of roads 2x2 or 3x3 u/c?
Do you have any plans to rebuilt road Via Baltia between Ryga and Lithuanian border in motorway 2X2? And road between Liepaja and Ryga in motorway 2x2?

Currently no, but A2/E77 will have a complete reconstruction from Rīga till Senīte next year to meet expressway standarts. (2x2)
A10/E22 from Priedaine till Sloka will be widened to 2x2 and reconstructed to meet motorway standarts in 2016.
E67/A4 will be reconstructed in 2014 tough i dont know if it will be widened.
E77/A8 will be reconstructed from Rīga till Jelgava in 2016 to meet motorway standarts. (2x2)
And E22 from Rīga till Koknese will bi widened to 2x2 in 2017. The road is currntely U/C in 1x1.

AFAIK only Ķekava bypass will be built which as far as i know will be 2x2. But that will happen only in 2014.

Thanks for the updates. As for Gaujas street overpass, it's given a break temporarily, due to the fact that it would be opened simultaneuosly with Meža prospekts, so they don't need to hurry yet.

Btw, there are of course plans for making both Riga - LT border and Riga - Liepāja a 2x2 highways, but that's just in quite distant future, most probably first of all they will make 2x2 motorway till Jelgava and then they'll see what will be happening with the traffic volumes on the left stretch.

That's sort of 2020 possible road development strategy, not earlier though I guess..

As far as I know, there are no plans for widening all A7 and all A9 even somewhere in future (i'm not talking about a period after 50 years).
A7 would be 2x2 till Bauska and A9 would be 2x2 in 2 stretches - Riga-Tukums (?) and Grobiņa-Liepāja.

That's my opinion only.

About current situation:

There will be no widening for existing A7 because of Ķekava bypass. Part of it will be 2x2. AADT isn't great enough to widen existing road after Ķekava bypass. And don't forget existing cross-section NP14 that is good enough.

About A9: stretches Grobiņa-Liepāja and Priedaine - Sloka (or Ķemeri?)will be widened in future. When? Probably it depends on money and politicans.
Ķemeri-Tukums has got lesser ADDT -> it should wait for some time.

To make life a bit easier, I made a special map of current motorway sections in development.

The following colours indicate:
RED - Not a motorway, but a expressway with a 110 km/h speed limit from Riga bypass to Sēnīte. Construction should start next year.
GREEN - Construction should start in 2014-2020 time period.
ORANGE - Motorways under study. Construction start unknown.
GREY - Planned motorways in the future.
Purple lines separate motorway sections.

About Ludza-Nirza stretch. As far as I know, part of it is already done and all other is going on right now. Does it really fit in green section?

And Grobiņa-Liepāja stretch. Wasn't it planned to be built in near future?

The part Nirza-Ploski was reconstructed in 2008. The other part (Ludza-Nirza) is under construction now, both these sections are built as 2-laned roads. So it does fit in the green section, because it will be upgraded to 2+2 the same as Tīnūži-Koknese.

I haven't heard anything about this section.
