I just can't understand why some sections of Via Baltica from LT border to Riga are still not repaired?! Didn't they get the full supporting from EU funds to cover all A7 road?!

A1 from Salacgrīva till Ainaži (LV/EST) border also isn't repaired, it's the worst section on Via Baltica though.

LAD (Latvijas Autoceļu direkcija) is responsible for this, they distribute funds for road maintenance. And those sections on A7 which they didn't repair are not that bad.

if I am correct, from EU funds there were allocated such amounts of money so that to cover all Via Baltica's Latvian section, totally!!

Not for all Via Baltica, those EU funds were distributed for following sections, see in this map:

And road sections Grenctāle (LT/LV)-Bauska, Skulte-Salacgrīva were reconstructed using the Cohesion funds.

Eastern highway project in Riga

One of the key projects to improve traffic flows in Riga is the Eastern highway. Now there are already built a number of the Eastern highway stages: Vairoga street flyover, from Vairogu to Ieriķu street and a section built from Slāvu roundabout to Vietalvas street.

With ERAF co-financing in 2007 started and in 2008 completed construction phase of the Eastern highway from Gauja street to Meža avenue.
Eastern highway project will be completed in 2011. It will join the Southern bridge at Slāvu fly-over creating a bypass and reducing traffic flows in the city center.

Vairoga street and Gauja street fly-over construction was started in 2008 and will be completed in 2010.

Tight curves on that last pic. Speed limit can hardly be higher than 50.

Most probably, on the viaduct over this curve road the speed limit will be 80/90km/h.

Progress on Slāvu bridge over railroad.

That place is between Inčukalna and Visbijas street.
Found more pictures of that place. That viaduct will start here..

..it will overpass Meža avenue and will connect Viestura avenue. Here is how it will look after all stage construction completion:

Pity that Riga is a top priority now, hopefully that Jelgavas council will succeed in obtaining government support and allocate funds for the Northern bridge construction in Jelgava, which is really needed now.
