Goverment rejected to buy speed cameras from Vitronic. Before that, the cameras were operated by Vitronic and not the police. We still have four movable speed cameras. Thats a long story short.

Stationary speed cameras are nonsense anyway. Most people drive a certain road daily or with some frequency and are aware of their locations, and speed up again as soon as they passed a speed camera.

Depends on situation or road. Stationary cameras can make people go slower, thus the risk of accidents on some more dangerous stretches is smaller. However movable cameras cam have two effect. a) First one would decrese the avarage speed on all roads, because drivers being afarid of getting caught speeding, even in places, where exceeding the speed limit wouldnt be dangerous. b) Practicaly no effect, most likeley in our situation. The chance of getting caught by one of the four cameras is pretty small, if they are spread out through all of Latvia.

How many km of motorway are in Latvia?
In 2005 they had only 132 km. Today is the same?

What? Do you mean dual carriageways? There no motorways in Latvia, and never have been, except of A2 which had motorway like status in Soviet times. Anyways, since 2005 no new dual carriageways have been built.

Well, I guess the P101 looks better with snow on the pavement, if you know what I mean.

I gathered some info on few road projects that should start this year.
  • P104 between Zebrene and Lielauce. ~5 650 000Ls
  • P104 between Vītiņi and LT border. ~1 350 000Ls
  • P40 between Kolberģis and Ploskums. ~5 335 000Ls

Just a cosmetic look, the same shakiness remains.

Probably, yes. But that should happen sometime in spring (april maybe?).
Anyway, some road projects will be realised by our own money, without help of EU, here they are.
  • Lightning of pedestrian tunnels in Sēnite, under A2 and A3. ~10 000Ls
  • Pedestrian crossing controlled by traffic lights on P128 in Lapme˛ciems. AFAIK it will work, same as the one's on A5 & A8, with speed cameras. ~75 000Ls
  • Lightning of A6 in Salaspils on a 600m stretch, two traffic light controlled intersections will also be built. ~360 000Ls
  • Reconstruction of A5/A6 interchange. ~400 000Ls
  • Reconstruction of A2/P26 interchange. ~600 000Ls

Are there some roads that could be classificated as motorway/expressway (at least 2 lanes per direction, divided and fully grade-separated)?

There are no fully grade seperated 2x2 roads. A6 between Salaspils and Ogre is almost fully grade seperated, same can be said about A2 and another A6 stretch near Daugvpils.

A10 between Riga and Jūrmala is fully grade-separated and it may be considered as a motorway in total ~12 km lenght (map). Rigas Southern inner bypass or Southern bridge as it's used to be called is also fully grade-separated with a max 70 km/h speed limit in total 4 km lenght; another 1 km stretch will be opened in October (map). You can view my video of SB here.

Btw, what works exactly are proposed for this junction? Isn't it good enough? Or just the overpass will be reconstructed?

I don't know exactly what will be done there. I guess the overpass will be reconstructed, and thats all.

I liked what Xmaster did with the Lithuanian map of 2x2 roads, so I decided to do the same for Latvia. This is a very early version, I will try to add upcoming projects on it and also will try to keep it updated, when some real construction work starts. A map of Riga is also in the works.
