wow! viaduct looks nice!

though, I think two lanes each way is not that good for traffic around Vilnius, there could be three.. pity, there are no more such ones in LT, if I'm not wrong..

Has Lithuania since independence built any new motorways, or only upgraded Soviet expressways?

Nope, they haven't! They are only upgrading those old Soviet motorways (A1), (A2) and other main roads. Mostly they build new pedeastrian bridges and reconstruct old viaducts.

The trip on the road from Klaipeda to polish border was very nice (you can drive quite fast, 3,5 hours).

Not far away from Kaunas. The trafic become denser. A 2x3 highway in the future would be nice:

Beginning of the Kaunas baypass. End of a highway, so you can not more go 130 km/h, though the standard of the way is the same like A1. The police will remind you if necessary.

We go to the right to "Varsuva"

No motorways, but some expressways. Just they are quite short. For example 20 km long 2x2 from Kaunas to Latvian border and Daugavpils direction (road A6) finished several years ago

Or 16 km long 2x2 expressway from Šiauliai to Kaliningrad direction (road A12) finished 2 years ago

Now 2x2 from Klaipėda to Palanga (road A13) is being built and approx 14 km long 2x2 from Vilnius to Utena (A14 road)

We have 309,11 km of motorways with speed limit 130 km/h (from 1st of April to 1st of November) and 110 km/h (from 1st of November to 1st of April)

About the map you made: It seems like Kaunas-Klaipeda and Vilnius-Panevezys are both not 2×2. Is that true?

They are. They are 2x2 highways with speed limit 130 km/h. I just wanted to separate expressways from highway standart raod. Those red ones are just usual 2x2 with speed limits 100 or 110 and orange ones are highway standart roads

Sorry I made mistake in writings

I updated map now. These red ones are not motorways, but expressways or dual carriageways and orange ones are pure highways

Highways = Motorways in this image, but can have other meanings in other discussions, such as regular roads. Note that not everybody thinks of a 2x2 limited access road when people are talking about a highway.
