Damn, Chris, how you know the speed ? Yes. actually I was doing 100-110 And in Lithuania "thanks" to quite low population per square kilometer you can't feel it's urban. Because for example this road was build something like 20 years ago, and it overtook all villages, so if you watch video it's a bit boring. But, yes, just a one small town ~10 000 inhabitants just on our way to Vilnius. So basically area is not very urban, so you don't get all these 2 level junctions, 2x2 roads and so on And about bumps on road - it's concrete... It's great that it's being partly reconstructed to asphalt, because it's much more smoother.

A faimiliar highway . We ate dinner in a place that's on the left side of the road in 5:09...and our cottage was near a lake...just a few km left from 5:24. My friend rode the whole way from Moletai to Vilnius by bike...

Finally remaining 8 km part of Klaipėda bypass (road A13), which was still underconstruction, is going to be officially opened. Commision was satisfied with results of construction, so those sign with 50 will be removed. Sadly it's not a motorway, even expressway, so speed limit of 100 km/h is likely to be on this stretch I see no reason why can't this be at least expressway. Some demo pics

^ Well, probably because of the standarts it was constructed with.. Still, I agree that such kind of road in our region just should be called an expressway!

It's strange, because this stretch has wide enough shoulders and no 1 level crossings... Maybe later they will decide to change the status of this road.

I think they are just lazy to do that. Giving the road a motorway status could bring the maintenance costs up since it would have to be up to the standard all the time while now they are leaving their hands free to do whatever they want with it e.g. allow pedestrians or bicycles. Why do more if they can do less?

Is there a plan to build a bypass for Palanga, and widen A13 all the way to Latvian border?

I guess no
Traffic is not that intense there.

Palanga bypass is planned I think for 2012 if I'm right, but it will be 1x2. Also the remaining stretch to Latvia will also stay 1x2, because traffic density is not high enough to widen it up to 2x2. If I remember correctly - roads with traffic density more than 8000 AADT can be 2x2. It is not economically sufficient to widen up road to 2x2 where AADT is below 8000.

If that only was in the Netherlands... There are many 1x2 roads in NL that have over 20.000 AADT.

Yeah, I found numbers. I don't know if it's calculated for Lithuania only, or it is a common standard, but numbers regarding average daily traffic density are as follows:
AADT
Below 8000 - 1x2 class road
8000 - 15000 - efficient to upgrade to 2x2
15000 - 30000 - standard for 2x2 motorway
>30000 - standard for 2x3 motorway
