PARIS - high fashion Avenue Montaigne & more

In the posh 8th district of Paris is an avenue lined with exclusive stores: l'Avenue Montaigne. The avenue specializes mainly in high fashion but jewelers like Bulgari and Harry Winston, as well as the prestigious Plaza Athénée hotel are also located there.

Other streets in Paris with exclusive shops are Avenue George V (which forms a triangle with Avenue Montaigne and the Champs Elysée and which includes the hotels George V and Prince des Galles), Rue François 1er (which intersects both Montaigne and George V avenues) Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré (another major street of high fashion shopping which also includes the Elysée presidential palace), as well as Rue Royale, Rue de la Paix and the Ritz Hotel's posh Place Vendôme (all three of which have a higher presence of prestigious jewelers and accessories). These photos capture only Avenue Montaigne unless it was a shop on the corner of another street that intersects Montaigne.

Apparently around the time I was visiting robbers took EUR 80 million in jewelry from Harry Winston boutique on Avenue Montaigne. Investigators suspect it to be a theft from the infamous Pink Panthers. Source: http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/...el-Robbery.php

This last one is not my photo but it's walking distance at the intersection of Avenue George V and the Champs Elysées: the Louis Vuitton store of stores.

I remember parking in the François Premier car park and it was full of big SUVs (like Hummers) and luxury saloon cars. I never saw it in an underground car park.

Yes...the underground garages of Avenue Foch and Place Vendôme are a delight for car spotting. I imagine the same is true for garages around places like Avenue Montaigne/Avenue George V.

Versace is not on Avenue Montaigne. I do not think I took photos of all the shops on Montaigne because it was raining lightly and I did not have an umbrella. Also, most shops have at the door either a big, muscular, black man on a suit or a host-type gay guy with an attitude and I was not in the mood to be told "no pictures" so I was discreet and fast. This avenue has almost no tourists and tends to remain rather exclusive to potential clients or guests from the Plaza Athenée hotel and most don't seem to go around with a camera.

According to Google Maps there is a Versace on Rue François 1er which is another high fashion street that intersects Montaigne. But upon looking at it on Street View on Google Maps the Versace shop does not look as nice or big as those on Montaigne. Also, the one on the other high fashion street Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré seems to have closed because on Street View you can see where the letters Gianni Versace used to be HEHE. But I remember seeing it open there maybe 3 years ago.
