It really is just beautiful, and the pinkish purple color is nice.

And the height is just ridiculous.

So this tower is going to sport the tallest vertical wall (or rather, glass) in the world.

That is one of its features why I like this tower so much.

Not at all, still very tall even for China, only 1 building is currently taller (Shanghai Tower)

Pingan and 117 will be taller too but a solid 1700 foot roof is top caliber.

Still not at all "average"

It would be the second tallest building in Shanghai, the tallest in Hong Kong, second tallest in Shenzhen (but roof similar to PingAn) and is the tallest in Guangzhou and would utterly dominate most Chinese skylines.

I've seen Sears and WTC in person in the USA and they are true giants, it's crazy to think this building is about/almost as high as their pinnacles.

This is currently the 7th tallest U/C building in China (tied with CTF Tianjin Binhai). Tallest one U/C in Beijing is also only 2 meter shorter than it. So yes, by height it's not anything exceptional in China

How is the 7th tallest building in the country with the most skyscrapers "not exceptional?" There are thousands of highrises in China, being in the top 10 is certainly special, and in terms of occupied height it's hardly much shorter than any building in the country either (ST has a big crown, PingAn has a big spire etc.)

Buildings with roofs above 500 meters didn't even exist 10 years ago.

Just a guess but the average height of a Chinese office building is probably around 100m so 530m is quite exceptional. Of course there are taller buildings but not by much.

Right, plus it's the tallest building in Guangzhou and a close second to Pingan in southern China.

That's the point. 10 years ago there were hardly any buildings with roofs above 500m. But 10 years later there will be dozens of them

These are buildings above 530m which are in prep stage in China

1. Rose Rock IFC (Tianjin) 588m
2. The Evergrande IFC (Jinan) 560m

And these are the tallest building proposed of construction in China

1. Sky City (Changsha) 838m
2. Qianhai Tower (Shenzhen) 800m
3. Erqi Area Project (Wuhan) 707m
4. Hua's International Plaza (Wuhan) 707m
5. Future City Project (Shenzhen) 700m
6. Shenwan Station Tower (Shenzhen) 680m
7. Shizimen CBD Tower (Zhuhai) 680m
8. Baoneng Financial Center (Urumqi) 668m
9. Hanzheng Jie Project (Wuhan) 666m
10. Nanping Twin Towers (Chongqing) 620mx2
11. Yuzui Tower (Nanjing) 600m
12. Platinum Hotel (Shenzhen) 600m
13. Evergrande Center (Shenzhen) 600m
14. Baishizhou Redevelopment (Shenzhen) 600m
15.Taihang Pearl Tower (Shijiazhuang) 600m
16. International Financial City (Guangzhou) 580m
17. Huacheng International Plaza (Kunming) 558m
18. Culture Plaza Riverfront (Guiyang) 540m

Even if only 1/4 of all the listed towers get built with their proposed height, China will still get around 6 more buildings above 530m within next 10 years. There are still myriads of 400 and 500m+ proposed and U/C skyscrapers all over China right now. So I don't think we should get so excited about one particular building.

If everything goes well for China for the next 5 years, we will be able to see plenty of 500m+ towers.

That's nice, but I was merely saying that the height is exceptional (A solid 1730 foot building that is)

Not all of those proposals are built yet nor will be so a 500 meter building is currently very special and not super common, it's not like they're all over the place. Even if there will be 5 or even 10 buildings that high in the future in China it doesn't really take away from how tall that really is.

All tall buildings lose their fame over time as new taller ones are built. How many people visit Kuala Lumpur nowadays to see the Petronas Twin Towers? 10 years ago KL was one of the most popular tourist destination in Asia, solely because of the Petronas Twins.

Most people who're aware of Kingdom Tower are not much interested or excited about Burj Khalifa anymore. Hardly any person outside this website and those who live outside Taiwan care about Taipei 100 at all. As more and more taller buildings are built, the older and shorter ones are getting insignificant day by day.

The only exceptions are of course, the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, which are the first 2 buildings in the history to cross 300m
