cool idea to make it taller, but no.. It doesn't look nearly as good as two towers identical. If they want to build a taller tower, thats cool but dont do it on the spot where East tower is going to be build.

I wonder if anyone asked Wilkinson Eyre to look at the east tower. This mediocre proposal could be anywhere.

I would prefer it THIS WAY:

Make the EAST TOWER a twin of the WEST TOWER although make it 30 meters higher.

Then use this 'East Tower' design to make a NORTH TOWER, with a SOUTH TOWER of similar design but 30m taller, that would look cool with 4 towers arranged in a + (plus) layout.

I think it would be difficult to fit into the present streetscape, however.

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed. I thought it's going to be the same design as the West Tower. Plus, it changes everything. Look at the landscape now and the view of the city. It is totally in disproportion. They better stay with the old design and probably just change the colors.

South tower is already essentially GZ TV tower, and north tower is essentially CITIC plaza. So your plan is already realized, in a way. When the park is done, it will look awesome to see the 4 monsters on all sides, especially west and east towers. Non-identical designs will ruin the effect, I hope they have the same designs for west and east towers .

Hey, so i heard that the east tower is still being designed right? But by design, do they mean that they are still looking at other designs or are they doing the final touches to the proposed one and doing the engineering work?

Recently, i went to guangzhou and on their billboards which advertise the cityscape, they were using the proposed one posted on this thread, which wasn't too nice. and by the way, the proposed design looks like one of the buildings in singapore, but taller and blue.

In my opinion, the cladding for this proposed design is too light in color and will make it look odd as the west tower has a darker cladding.

Why would Lamborghini spend a lot of money when they have a perfect Ferrari design...

Well, now we need to hope that if the final desing isn't the west tower design or something else which can create harmony with the west tower, then hopefully the proposed design wont be approved by the government .

A round tower next to a rectangular tower doesn't make much sense

Shanghai world financial center (rectangular) will be next to shanghai tower (round) will be next to each other in the future to make the perfect skyscraper zone in China.

Shanghai Tower and SWFC are both excellent skyscrapers. East Tower doesn't look that good next to the splendid West Tower.

Imo we should ignore those concept renders. I bet the final design will be completely different. Hopefully the height isn't final either, Guangzhou deserves a 500m+ highrise, hehe.

Well, the design phase might mean that they will make some changes to the current design or be making another design which will complement the current west tower design. I'm also slightly dissapointed with the fact that its not a twin, but oh well, i now hope the east tower will look even better than the west.

120 floorsis a lot for 488 height. So lets hope it turns out taller.

im ok with the different design now, but if its the box like th first proposals then i'd be very disapointed.
