There's a thing I cannot understand ...... I noticed that at some high floors of Shanghai Tower also ...... Why at certain levels the 'windows' in the core are not at the same height (look at the pic above, for instance)?

The mechanical floors are indeed taller, but he means the holes in the core above the mechanical floors where the regular floors are. I think there is still enough space to enter the core, those holes are quite big.

Ok, I'll try to make it clearer.
As perhaps someone knows, I'm making a 3D model of ST.
Doing this, I realized that the square openings in the core have the height of 1 floor, meaning in this case not the height 'floor to floor' but the usable height of a floor (floor to ceiling).
This is at least how the thing works for ST, but I have no reasons to think it should work different for the CTF.
If my assumption is right, then becomes hard to understand why some of the 'square holes' in the core are not at the same level.
I can understand that, anyway, the vertical space left is enough to allow a person to pass through, but I keep asking myself the reason why they're not aligned with the 'regular' ones.

And - yep, tim got me right - I was just meaning the holes above mech floors, and I wasn't speaking about the height of the hole itself, but about its misalignment with the other ones at the same floor.

To make the core more resilient to shocks from the sides?

Dici seriamente, paisà?
If you mean external shocks in '9/11 style', I doubt in China they may ever have such a kind of problems.

Meanwhile, the 'misaligned openings' do remain a mystery.....

Eh eh, no, I didn't mean "external", I meant "side" shocks like in earthquakes. Non-aligned voids would make for a stronger structure in this regard. But on second thoughts, Guangzhou is not in a quake-prone area, so forget what I said, the reason must be something else.

There was a test-cladding already, months ago. don't think it will take too long until they start with the cladding

Guess works are actually suspended due to the Chinese New Year holidays. They should restart from Feb 18th, if I got it right.
