The more cladding they add the better it looks. It's a fantastic cladding for this tower

Guangzhou is so charming
I love that grand park/axis as well. Kind if reminds me if the High Line in NYC in principle.

That is the new Guangzhou Library which just opened June 23.

On topic, I am absolutely loving the cladding on CTF, it is very shiny and reflective!

I'm starting to think the fins should have been a bit thicker and more spread out to give more vertical emphasis.

I see some pretty cool facade designs here. The small building to its right also looks very good.

At 530m I'm not sure it needs any more vertical emphasis.

I am just wandering why does Shanghai Tower get to finished next when it started in 2008. That's only 6 years, but West Tower started in 2009 and it has to finish in 2017/2018. All of the other super tall buildings in China gets more workers or what?

I believe you mean the East tower in this case. The West tower or GZ IFC is completed already. Chow Tai Fook went on hold for sometime during one of the Chinese new Years in the past recent years while it was still underground. Hope this helps.

One thing that disappoints me a bit - when walking around the area a few months ago, I noticed how the proportions of the GZ IFC (West Tower) and the Canton Tower were kind of well matched, with the observation platform of Canton Tower being some 50 feet or so above the top of West Tower.

But, with the East Tower (CTF) completion, the top level of Canton Tower will be some 60 metres lower than the East Tower top. If the plan for the whole area was done in sync originally, maybe the authorities should have let Canton Tower be much taller in the first place, like 550 m body and 150 m antenna for a total of 700 m? I know about the overhyped aviation limit which is up to the authorities to manage anyway, but compared to CTF, Canton Tower will look a bit dwarfed....

It won't because it is a completely different structure which doesn't aim to rival supertalls. I am actually very pleased with current masterplan for GZ, Canton Tower is just amazing and all the supertalls in between (Treetop Plaza, Pinnacle, Poly Tower) just add to its diversity. Obviously the powerhouses here are East and West Tower which SHOULD dominate the skyline.

Canton Tower actually was planned to be taller, but the heights for this area because of airport or something was limited what the canton tower ended up being. looking over the new CBD that is in the planning the situation may be different and instead of a rather balanced one tower is a bit taller than the other concept, we may get a giant tower above all concept, who knows but i have to agree the height distribution of the current CBD is totally satisfying and Guangzhou has one of the best looking and most balanced supertall skylines i have seen

I agree. They all have cool and modern looks without being extravagant. Great skyline.
