Stunning panorama of Hong Kong

Skylines don't get much more impressive than this...

Hong Kong has the greatest skyline in the world. By night I think it's also the most visually spectacular city on earth. Its airport, and some of the individual skyscrapers, are along the finest in the world. It has lively streetlife, exhilerating nightlife, superb cuisine, and lots of pretty girls. I also love the blend of British and Chinese culture. I plan to move there about this time next year.

Holy Mother of Pearl!!!!

What a city, I hope I am lucky enough to visit one day. That newish skyscraper (not sure of the name) the tallest one centre right is probably my favorite in the world right now.

Stunning Pano!!!

I really like that building too. I love the dotted line of light along the mountains; I think it is the mix of mountains, sea and urbanity that make Hong Kong so spectacular.

It's interesting that there are so many low rise buildings when you look beyond the skyscrapers down to ground level though.

^ Actually there are a few reclamation projects since then. HK's tallest skyscraper, the 484m ICC (still under construction on the opposite side of the Harbour in the photo posted by Fox), is, like the rest of the gigantic West Kowloon development, built on land reclaimed since completion of the airport. There is another reclamation of land taking place along the Central waterfront between the IFC2 (the tall tower you and Leeds are admiring) and Norman Foster's HK Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Doubtless there are other reclamations projects too. I seem to remember seeing plans for a reclamation project around the site of the old Kai Tak Airport, though I'm unsure if that's currently under construction or not.

I loved HK when I was there. I stayed in a hotel next to a crazy market where all sorts of animals were being barbequed in front of me, and made sure to go on a boat tour around some of the bays around the island. Some of them, although over-developed, were beautiful. Some of my photos (4 years ago)

View from my hotel room:

This view was compromised because there were a whole load of high rise slums next door. These slums at first ruin the shiny glass look of the city but I was impressed with them structurally as they looked like they could fall down at any time. Great juxtaposition between the old and new, rich and poor. Some of the high rises seen on the journey up to The Peak are just as impressive. Mad height:width/depth ratios and seemingly built on uneven ground.
