I wonder what the total capacity will be. If by 2018 the capacity is reported to top 80 million passengers, the 2022 plan should exceed 100 million, making Baiyun (with Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong and very likely Hong Kong) another Chinese airport to host >100 million pax a year.

I'm not surprised if Baiyun is designed for 150m to 200m operations. It was mentioned in the annual CPC address or somewhere, that Baiyun, Daxing, TIanfu, Pudong are part of the SkyTeam layer of bigger airports that are further away from the city, versus the Star Alliance layer that are nearer but smaller.

After T1+T2+T3 and 5 runways in operation by 2022, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport handling capacity will reach 105 million passengers / per year, cargo and mail 5 million tons / per year.

Excellent. I wonder how many airports in the world will handle >100 million pax a years by 2025. Only China will have Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong and Guangzhou Baiyun, add Atlanta, Dubai... any other?

I assume the fourth runway will be built on the west side of the airport, parallel to the existing west runway. Where will the fifth runway be located?

East side. The FedEx cargo will be in between the third and fifth runway when the airport is fully built out according to the master plan.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Terminal 2 will be fully completed by the end of this year and is scheduled to be put into operation in February 2018. By the end of this year, Baiyun Airport's parking lot is expected to increase to 220。

Isn't Guangzhou going to build another new airport after this is done? I remember reading about it but there isn't a thread...

Apparently so, far away in the northeastern corner of Guangzhou (red box). I don't think it is an optimal location. It should be in Huizhou to better serve Huizhou (duh) and Eastern Shenzhen.

I am quite certain there are projects underway for an eastern Shenzhen Airport and new developments for Huizhou too. I would be glad not to be managing that airspace.
