amazing architecture. Oslo doesn't have very tall buildings, but the designs are very good.

Oslo is mostly a quite cozy (as in seemingly small) city with a tiny bit of real urbanism in it.

But actually, at least in Europe, Oslo isn't *that* small any longer:

Oslo Urban 951,581
Amsterdam
Municipality/city 810,084

The city is very sprawling though so the downtown can feel smaller than it actually is. The city is quite American in that sense - same goes for other Norwegian cities too.

If you have to compare the size of the cities then its better to use the same method for both cities.

Amsterdams metro area is around 1,56 million.

Oslo city has around 600.000 citizens but the
size of the city is twice as much as Amsterdam and their 810.000 citizens.

You're right that Amsterdam is bigger "metropolitally speaking" than Oslo. To my defense - I did add that smiley for a reason.

But it's a little annoying that you say "around 600.000" when it's 630.000 and yet you include the 10.000 in Amsterdam's 810.000, that's not exactly accuracy

No idea. There are lot of construction going on but most of it are pre-fabricated and standardized crap which need little input from architects.

I love the whole cluster. The buildings work great, both individually and as a whole. It's hard to develop a series of buildings together without having them look either really banal or just different versions of the same design. But these buildings each retain their own unique identities while contributing to a very modern, clean look of the complex as a whole.
