I bet you're not impressed because it's not 9hundred-and-omphty-oooomph meters high, but that's not all that counts considering whether it's high or low quality architecture and city development.

I really like this visually, all the buildings look nice and not too imposing or arrogantly designed! nice.

This is huge. Great to see that construction is going well. This is similar to the Amsterdam zuidas development.

Outer layer will consist of metall and glass-facades with balconies running around the entire length of towers, the inner-layer will consist of different materials, giving each tower a distinct identity. The project will include kindergarden aswell as commercial areas in lower floors, the eastern ending point of Barcodepromenade ends in a square in the intersection of Haakon V street and Dronning Eufemia street.

There are some issues concerning noise for some flats, a formal application for the block is expected to be sent the city in during the winter of 2009/2010. Residents are expected to start moving in during 2014.

Developper: Oslo S Utvikling.
Architect: Lund Hagem.
Project manager: Vedal project.

Great to see Oslo getting a respectable skyline!

Why aren't they building over the rail yards though? Is that part of a later plan?

Its a part of a later plan, good question actually, since the idea-competition for the rails just started this month! Many suggestions and ideas presented by good architects. Personally i hope for a 150m tower + other up to 100m building there!
