Hey guys I need a quick help here. I heard about KSRTC and its sub-division's workers going on strike sometime this week. I have already made some extensive travel plan starting Wednesday night.

Just want to know if the strike is still on....?

They have planned a indefinite strike. It's from friday, better confirm before planning ur travel.

KSRTC new services and upgrades

Hubli - Shirdi - upgraded from Airavata to Airavata GC
MYS - Manipal - Sleeper (MYS-Davanagere is non starter same buses are used)
BLR - Mangalore - Sleeper (7th Service)
Mangalore - Belgaum - Rajahamsa - 1930 hrs

Now NWKRTC has 12 Airavata GC buses

The Mys-Dvg sleeper bus ran for a week and has been pulled out now. I strongly suspect the lobby of some private bus owners for the cancellation of this bus. Some months back, Dvg depot had started a Rajahamsa bus in this route only to pull out within a week.

Regarding the sleeper buses to Mangalore, by 7th service I guess you are referring to the 3 AC and 4 Non-AC buses

I was referring to same, previously there was 3 AC and 3 NAC now it 4 NAC. There are many routes where KSRTC is not allowed to operate their buses due to private bus lobby, like BLR-Bijapur, Hubli-Mumbai .....

KSRTC EMPLOYEES TO GO ON INDEFINITE STRIKE FROM APR. 27

KSRTC employees have planned to go on an indefinite strike across the State from April 27, demanding fulfilment of their several long-pending demands.

Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, the KSRTC Staff & Workers' Union office-bearer H.R. Seshadri said, nearly 1,10,000 employees of all the 4 transport Corporations — KSR-TC, BMTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC — will go on an indefinite strike from Apr. 27 as the government has been "indifferent" to their demands.

Claiming that their long pending demands that included among other things, granting of mandated rights to transport employees clearance for forming unions as per law, end to relentless harassment of employees and doing away with the trainee system, have not been considered by the government for long, Seshadri demanded revision of wages on par with other government employees. "All the seven labour unions from the 4 State transport corporations have formed a Joint Action Committee to fight for the cause of transport employees," he said and urged the government to hold talks with them in order to resolve their problems.

Accusing the KSRTC management of being negligent to the problems of its employees, Seshadri said the management has been informed of the stir well in advance. But the management has all along been apathetic, he alleged and demanded a probe into the money collected from employees as fine, which itself runs up to crores of rupees.

Union leaders M. Mallaiah, Raghava Raghu, Shafiq Ahmed and others were present.

‘KSRTC staff not to go on stir’

There would not be any indefinite stir by employees as declared earlier, said divisional controller of KSRTC M N Srinivas.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, he said, Joint Union of KSRTC Employees
Association had recently announced to stage indefinite stir for fulfilment of various demands. But after realising it is unlawful, workers have taken back the decision of protest. All employees would be working.

“KSRTC being public transport is dedicated for their service. There was no disruption in rural and urban bus transport during the convention held by employees. Providing service to public would be ensured by the department before any decisions,” he added.

Clarifying the allegation by union leaders that participants of conventions were transferred without reason, he said, action was taken against employees who were involved in provoking other employees.

Public could contact phone numbers of control rooms (city bus stand on 7760990821 and rural 776099821) if there is any disruption and problem, Srinivas said.

Mysore Depot has to start a sleeper service on MYS-HSP-BJP route to encash on the tourism potential. And there should be a direct sleeper service between MYS-PNJ too..(atleast a summer special).MYS-DVG might have been stopped due to lack of patronage.
