How can they say it has 90 floors when it doesn't? That's false advertising. If a pack of 10 doughnuts only ever had 8, people would make a fuzz about it.

While a hallmark of the economic downturn has been the collapse of the housing market, the extreme top of residential markets in New York, London, Hong Kong and other select cities has been resilient.
No matter what, those cities remain strong.

And btw this is not the first time a residential tower is advertising a false floor count, just take the TWT f.e..

That's the shot I've been waiting for. Essex House being eclipsed by that Halloween-dressed giant inching up behind it.

It's not 200 meters yet though. More like 170.

I feel bad for those people who paid a million+ for the apartments in the buildings behind! haha, I bet the reality is setting in that "here goes my view." Maybe in 250 years the essex house will get an add on and eclipse One57! muahaha

Completely different things we're talking about. If I told you that you were getting a 90th floor room, and you are 900 ft up do you care if it's the 45th floor? I sure as hell don't!
If it's the equivalent of 90 floors it shouldn't matter. It's like me giving you 8 doughnuts that have the volume of 10, but are just 8 in quantity.

Here's a few more examples of inflated floor counts:

Trump World Tower - 90 (72 actual)
ICC, Hong Kong - 118 (108 actual)
Rio Masquerade Tower, Las Vegas - 50 (42 actual)

If you're sharing those doughnuts among 10 kids, you'd be pretty annoyed though, wouldn't you? Would you call your friends and invite them to a party on the 90th floor if you actually live on the 45th? They'd think they had gotten the wrong elevator. It's stupid and unnecessary.

Whattt? It would state 90th floor on the elevator button though!

No, it wouldn't. Because the building only has 45 floors. See above.

*sigh* Allow me to outline it for you. Why he brought in 45 instead of 75 is beyond my guess, so I suppose the confusion is understandable.

I thought I could switch from using meters to floors to measure building height in order to overcome the metric/US measuring system problematic, but that turned out to be a huge disappointment.

As for the Essex House being demolished, wouldn't that involve Extell actually purchasing the building for that specific purpose? Seems overly drastic, even for them.

I was using examples! I could've said "5th floor" and it would be conveying the same point! I didn't even mean to get the other floor number I used right, that was just chance. But I don't care if you're on the 5th floor and it's called the 205th floor, if you're 2050 feet up does it matter? The numbers are negligible!

The Essex house will never be demolished, the guy was talking about the sign being taken down to create unobstructed views for the tenants.

To tell you the truth, no I wouldn't be annoyed haha. If they have an apartment 900 ft up, anyway you look at it that is bad ass! I don't care how many floors are below me, just how high up I am.

Quick! Call Guinness! I make a claim to live in the building with the most floors in the world - a whooping 300 floors! Well, why not? The numbers are negligible!

I understand the point you are trying to make, Royal Rose, truly. Yes, the height would be the same, the view would be the same, the time in the elevator would be the same. But you still cannot claim to live in the 205th floor if your building only has 5 floors without lying through your teeth.
