If you can afford it, trust me, you are king of the world.

The density on 57th Street is insane. One57 has really transformed it into the city's best skyscraper canyon, and the addition of 225 West 57th and 432 Park are only going to make it more impressive.

RW: I thought it was denied that the PM of Qatar bought $250M worth of One57? Although denial would make sense.

I don't think its there yet. 42nd St is till better, Sixth Avenue is better. Park and Lexington could both be said to be better and Wall Street downtown is of course up there.

But 57th Street which was before a complete also ran bereft of tall buildings is catching up rapidly.

I agree! I had the chance to run in 42th street while traffic was stopped for the run and it was really impressive! One of the best race of my life.

Eh, the problem with 42nd is there are no supertalls to roof height... I would give 6th the edge over 42nd because of the sheer bulk of most of the buildings (the XYZ buildings in particular help this effect).

I would love to see supertalls go up in Times Square, it's sad that the latest wave of development seems to be passing the neighborhood by... I wish they would upzone the neighborhood specifically for hotel usage, so you could see enormous hotels with FARs of 30+ (basically meaning they would top 1,000 feet) rise. New York has a huge shortage of hotel space, and neither the Hudson Yards rezoning nor Midtown East was intended for large scale hotel development...

Yeah, my favorite canyon has to be 42nd. Street. The combination of the Art Deco of Chrysler, Post-Modernism of BOA Tower, curving facade of WR Grace, Deconstructivist of Conde Nast, and all the other different shapes and sizes makes it my favorite. Then my favorite historical canyon would be Pine Street, with 40 Wall on one side and AIG on the other, and also how narrow it is, makes it look great. And then my other favorite is the booming, modern 57th street canyon, with glass facades popping up everywhere. I love them all.

Exactly. I would hate if random people would be visiting the roof of my home building

Which is why they'd never do it of course.
Shame though seeing as the "residents" probably won't spend that much time there.

Agree; but Can you imagine the amount of money they could make? Not that the owners would need it, but less common charge wouldn't hurt them.

I don't recall the amount the ESB is making but it's huge! A lot of the renovations are done with that money.

When it's done from design, problems can be avoided. The twin towers have an elevator for that purpose without interfering with tenants. ESB is a mess because it was not designed for it. Now, One 57 is focus on space, so there will be the minimum amount of elevators.

You don't even have to think it through that much. The fact of the matter is the people that will live in this building won't want "commoners" traipsing in and out of their building no matter how it's handled. The buck stops at the doorman and their personal staffs.
