Been there 5 times but it still amazes me that people buy apartments like these and I thought the whole world was going througt an economic crisis. Apparently it does not affect everybody.

These folks deal in money numbers unimaginable for us common people. And a crisis is just as much an opportunity to earn more as it is an opportunity to lose it all

I hung out in Sheeps Meadow today and got to admire this thing from Central Park (finally). In person it does seem incredibly tall, and I love how the Essex House sign is reflecting in the glazing. Nice touch.

1715 Broadway is also quite visible from this angle. Its hard to even fathom how massive 225 W 57th will look from this vantage point if it lives up to its rumored heights.

I think glass cladding looks cheap. Nothing worse than an 80's look with a bunch of differently-colored windows arranged in a random pattern making it seem like a hurricane took out many of the windows and the replacements weren't the same color as the originals.

I'm sorry, but this is New York. And even if it wasn't, there's no excuse to use the abused word "modernism" on this building in hopes that its horrendous design will never be criticized.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

What will this building do to the property value for the building behind it? It has totaly taken its Central Park view away.
It is making the Midtown view from CP more impressive though.

I don't really think it's worth commenting on the glass until it is finished, it's only half glassed at the moment so it's to early to tell

Very few rich people are affected by troubled economies. By rich I don't mean upper middle class people who makes hundreds of thousands per year, I mean people who are actually wealthy, as in they clear $1 million or more a year after taxes and the like.

Not too long ago Forbes put out an article that said the number of billionaires in the US is almost going to double by 2020, whether or not the economy fully recovers by then.

I've just updated my diagram. 157 is now 299 meters or 980 feet tall and only one single floor (75) remains to be built

Also, just one single meter remains and it'll be a supertall

It makes the Essex house sign a little more prominent, which is a good thing.
