Just needs a little cialis or viagra.

On a serious note, I hope other cranes (such as those on 1WTC) don't meet a similar fate. The worst of the storm is suppose to hit in a couple hours from now.

Oh my, this is big, this is big! I really hope there will be as few damage as possible and no one will get hurt. This proves now definitely that this hurricane is a major threat and not just an overhyped breeze, like a few people said a few days ago

EDIT:I forgot that the Carnegie Hall is on 56th street, and that this richly decorated building is on 57th street But the crane won´t fall onto it, i guess it would damage the Carnegie Hall tower or just fall onto the street.

Is it swinging or not? It seems pretty stable in the webcam.

Since it is already topped out, how many works need to be done that requires crane to finish it?
$ 100 000, propane balloon, and a couple of daredevil CUTTER AND HOUR WORK

Too dangerous probably. Looking at this pic, it seems to me that is is not the entire crane that is in danger of falling down.
Will be a hell of a job to get that arm down safely.

It looks like the damaged parts are being "stabilized" by the counterweights.

Kanto, it doesn't take a hurricane to topple cranes in New York City. The construction and crane industry is so corrupt here that they collapse and kill people all by themselves.

And there is no hurricane here anyways.

Sadly, this probably will set construction back quite some time.

World Trade Center just put on Facebook that all their cranes our properly secured and have no problem.

From this angle, it looks like the crane is dangling over the street:

Will be a hell of a job to get that arm down safely.

Before the hurricane passes it is impossible to remove the damaged part safely, and there's no telling of the extent of the damage. It falling down is a grim and serious possibility

Yes, it is definitely over the street. 57th Street to be precise. I am sure it is closed off.

Ya they mentioned that whole area is closed off, something like that falling from 1000+ feet in the wind could go a block+ up 57th easy .

Scary situation in the coming hours

Remember the base of this crane is about 15 floors up. The first crane was based on street level which I should imagine is where they would base the recover crane. No room on the roof to chopper one in. But a street one would require huge collars to the building due to the angle. And who has that many tower sections lying around. All of the tower sections on this crane will have to be checked for compromise. I should imagine they were going to use them in 433 Park.

Will any construction sites survive? -cranes are apparently taking matters in to their own hands by committing suicide. That does note bode well for the magnitude of what's coming.

We have no idea the circumstances of this incident and likely wont for sometime. It's very possible it was not secure properly and or there was a weakness prior to the storm. As of right now all other cranes in the city are solid.
