People look up at a crane that hangs precariously from the side of 157 W. 57th Street after wind has damaged it before the expected landfall of Hurricane Sandy in New York, New York, USA, 29 October 2012. US President Barack Obama urged residents to follow warnings from local officials as hurricane Sandy barrels toward the East Coast. Many areas from the mid-Atlantic to Northeast have declared a state of emergency as Sandy is expected to bring flooding and widespread power and commuication outages.
People really need to apply some common sense and not stand around under scenes like this. Cranes falling in high winds can have VERY unpredictable trajectories.

All of the sudden "crane experts" flooded this topic....

Maybe we all should wait and see what really caused this problem and don't point fingers and jump to conclusions.

Agree. With those winds that boom will get thrown off quite a distance.

Because the authors don't want you to download them and sell them to TV stations, probably.

Damn, I would hate to have the job of getting that crane down. One wrong move... ugh.

Imagine what the guys living in Carnegie Hall Tower must be feeling right now.

The news anchors on MSNBC are so clueless talking about this building. Bartiromo called it a highrise, she probably never heard of the word supertall before. The old guy didn't even realize it was topped-out. If they don't know anything about a supertall that is this far into construction just think about how clueless people are about 225 West 57th Street.
