They were removing the crane platform this morning (not sure if that is the right term...sits on top of the swivel) so they are slowly making progress..so I guess they will finish the topping out with derrick?

Thanks. The remaining parts should be no problem, business as usual.

So we should be back and track and construction can resume as usual?

It's a shame that such an accident had to occur so late in the building's construction.

Remember hurricane Sandy?
Well, Sandy was like a tipical woman, she started wet and crazy, but in the end she took cars and houses, and worst of all, she broke the stiff crane.

Do they need to install another crane?
Or is the derrick enough to finish whatever lifting they might need?

Good question. Sandy struck back in October. It shouldn't take 5 months to dismantle a crane

I agree, but keep in mind, tower cranes usually dismantle themselves which this one couldn't. At this height, there was no way to dismantle it from ground level. And finally, I'm pretty sure they had to wait for the Derrick that was being used at 4wtc to be done there and dismantled and brought to One57 and then installed. This is where most of the time was lost if i recall.
