From some angles the building looks truly massive

From today

Untitled by 600West218, on Flickr

The lower part of the building is fully enclosed. Through the glass you can see they are closing the walls.

BTW, the hotel that was built just down the street from this and didn't even start until this thing was half way up is already complete and hosting guests.

Its amazing how fast some projects are and how painfully slow others are.

When was this thing originally scheduled to open?

I know the exterior was planned for completion by at least Quarter 1 2013. The interior later this year would be my guess for the original estimate.

Well, they didn't expect Sandy would slap the construction so hard. After all, for a half year there was no progress at all

What is the name of the hotel and how tall is it?

1715 Broadway, and it's around 750 feet if I remember correctly.

I would love to see the progress of the northern side of the building, but this the best that I could find.

I cannot wait until they close all those little ventilation windows. The OCD part of my brain can barely look at the closeups.

Those windows are my favorite part of the tower! They break up the monotony of a plain glass facade.

My OCD can't handle the colored panels installed in the wrong locations. At this point there are still quite a few windows that are the wrong color and do not fit the repeating pattern. It isn't clear if this is intentional and/or if it will be fixed.

Hahaha, goes to show -- different strokes.

Overall, I love the glass from afar, and I think the pinstriped South and solid, lighter blue North sides really hold up on closer inspection, but I find the East and West facades pretty problematic. I expect in a few years, people are going to be calling it cheesy.

I hope Extell doesn't try to outsmart itself with 225.

i love the shape of the tower the most, and i agree with you about the north and south sides, but i feel like the side are all ready outdated.
