That and Citigroup Center with its 5 peg base were personal favorites of my dad. He was telling all the guys he works with about them.

Not to get off topic too much but ... the sooner that ugly Gehry monstrosity is torn down the better. Gehry needs to have his architects license revoked. One57 is a billion times better than 8 Spruce ...

I thought it'd be better to post the full size to show more detail, and then a smaller version that fits to a PC screen.

I agree. 8 Spruce is absolutely amazing. It gives me a serious "John Boehner."

Once the crane and elevator are gone, the waterfall effect will become completely obvious.

It's really clever what they did here: perfectly reflective glass for the side facing the park to be less overbearing for the visitors, pixeled cladding for the sides which are like waterfall droplets, and the flowing stream is on the southern side.

Hm. I wonder why they haven't clad a single setback roof curve?

Good morning, friends! This is my first post here.
I have made a model of One57. It is made of wood with special cover of golden paint. Here it is:

It is 1 ft high, so proportions are 1:1000. It may look not exactly the same because I live too far from NYC (actually, not in the US at all).

Looks nice. Are the apartments inside your model cheaper than the "real deal"?

The third pic being HUGE is a great thing (for me, anyway) because I can see more detail...

Yeah, I guess we lucked up that it failed to resize. You can see the cooling towers in the crown if you look closely.

!!!.....please,maybe you can state your opinion smoothly!
Remind me that despicable character,J.Goebbels!..
Porzamparc is one of the most talented contemporary architect but Gehry is something else:let's say a GENIUS!..
However,i would prefer to live at One 57 as it's more relaxing for the senses...
Gehry is more like a mortal who design for the Olympus Gods....

Can't help it, but in this model it looks like the tower is giving the finger towards central park.
You can see the thump, index finger and the middle finger.
Fortunately it doesn't work that well on the real building.

I've always thought that the actual building does look like it's giving the park the finger.

lol.

I think the model looks more like a finger than the tower itself though.
