Saying "less is more" doesn't necessarily make it true. "Form follows function" is more fitting... at least it's honest.

Back to One57...

Neo-modernism:

"Less is more as long as the intent is the same."
"Simplicity is a form."
"Better less than a mess."
"Function enhances the form."

I think One57 fits these criteria quite well.

The exterior of the building is mostly complete. What about the interior?

This beauty will shine when that sheeting is removed.

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the collapse of One57's tower crane.

Don't think it will become as famous as the Seagram. It won't have its time to shine as the Seagram along with other iconic buildings had. There's just too much supertall development going on right now.

But... It will be known as the one the started it all... One57 is a game-changer, not so much for its architecture or height but for how it laid the plans on luxury building on the 57th St. corridor.

And that's probably what a lot of people will associate with One57.
It went from 'some tall building' to 'that building where a crane collapsed', at least it got some publicity. Maybe some people will look at it again a year after the storm and take a bit more notice this time.

Usually a BMU lowers the crane in smaller sections to the ground.

You might mix up this tower in Tianducheng, China with the Eiffel Tower.
