I think Central Park will have one of the best views on the planet once 432 Park, 225 West, 111 West and Verre will join the party

Lol yea but u know what??

I was pushing my little girl on the swing and that's when I started day dreaming. I was looking up towards one57 with my mouth open imagining the day when TV, Steinway, 432PA &'Nordstrom standing tall amongst One57 in the Central Park skyline . It must have been a couple minutes.....

Then I heard my girl calling out Daddy! She wasn't swinging anymore. Oy vey!

Only five units at One57 are on the market right now
http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/11/...of-a-sell-out/

Quote:
Extell Development’s much-maligned billionaire’s tower One57 is nearly sold out.

Of the 157 West 57th Street building’s 94 apartments, only five were on the market as of Monday, according to marketing materials for the project. Two are three-bedroom residences between 3,000 and 4,200 square feet, one is a four-bedroom residence with 3,466 square feet, one is a five-bedroom with 5,475 square feet and one is a full-floor residence with 6,240 square feet. The prices of the remaining units range from $18.75 million for the smallest three-bedroom to $55.5 million for the full-floor unit.

Whether the leftovers are in the center of the building – reportedly the more difficult part of One57 to sell — is unclear. The units officially hit the market in December 2011, and by the following February, about 30 percent of the units were under contract, according to Extell founder Gary Barnett.

Among the known buyers at One57 are a Bill Ackman-led investor group that purchased the so-called Winter Garden penthouse for over $90 million and a set of Chinese parents who purchased a unit for their now toddler to use as a university student one day. — Julie Strickland

Great pic man, but I couldn't take my eyes off the reflex of "ESSEX HOUSE" written in One57 ()

how about that. Remarkable! Just wondering don't you think the tower is too big for that kind of use?

Archcritic James russel destroy the architectural reputation of One 57.
You are all welcome to write your opinion about.

How does Extell get away with
selling shiny, gift-wrapped ordinariness for top prices?
One57 crashes unceremoniously into the street,
a not-yet-installed rippling canopy may bring a note of whimsy.
Endless acres of cheap-looking frameless glass
in cartoonish stripes and blotches of silver and pewter
muddy this tower's profile.
Enough of lazy, no-character glass walls.
Skillful marketing is cheaper than real architecture.
Architect Christian de Portzamparc salvages a bit of dignity
with winsomely curving greenhouse hats atop the setbacks

That article was posted here a week ago. Anyway, he’s definitely part of a long line of “critics” that absolutely hate One57. Nothing new and shocking here imo.

There are many reasons for the underlining hate towards One57 actually.

The tag “Billionaire Building” that had been started in the midst of recession has not exactly been received positively in public opinion and the crane accidents had been a PR disaster towards the tower. Extell has gotten a bad name lately with the “poor door” and “tax credit” saga. Extell plays by the rules and uses the system to its advantage. That is why Extell chooses “as of right” projects to circumvent the opposition and rightfully so leaving the Nimby’s powerless and resentful.

What is resentful that this tower represents? It is a pioneer as it's the first of its kind leading the way for a host of supertalls that is/ will be sprouting along this corridor, marking the change of landscape along Central Park. There are shadow fearers, height allergic critics. They all have their own agenda’s and are lucky enough to have a platform to try to sway public opinion on the people that don’t have the capability to form their own thoughts and opinions. They prey on… what’s the term? Oh yes…. Sheeples!

I wish I had a platform and maybe I can go on the NYTimes Op-ed. Lol.

What is boring and cheap about the fašade? I admit the plastic filtering over the gass does not do justice. Imo, it is one of the unique facades in the city. Go figure.

It's a pretty sexy tower alright, slim, curvy and graceful.
