I wish the Times Square and the Chrysler had spires like the BOfa's, ESB's, and Conde Nast's. The Chrysler spire could stay white to match the crown, but it would be so cool if the Time Square Building's spire had as cool of a spire as BOfA or Conde Nast's.

I love how an 1000+ foot building hardly affects NYC's skyline... but obviously a wonderful addition

I love the way that the top glows during sunset. It is simply breathtaking. You can even see it in my avatar lol

Cool looking buiding, I really like the shape and the top. Ugly cladding on the sides though.

Also reasonably well-featured in this extended panorama that stretches from Midtown all the way past 100th St on the Upper East Side, with a Downtown feature towards the end.

Wow, and I thought the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building was enough.

Beyond just mere design aspects (which are rather flawed i feel), the most important thing is that this building was the first domino to fall in the process of cementing 57th street as the most luxurious destination for rich foreign investors, a boon to the city's coffers and the overall economic growth of the city due to it being seen as a safe haven for sheltering wealth from overseas. It also shows that 57th street is now on par with 5th avenue and madison avenue once again as one of the prime luxury locations in the city after years of decline. I expect retail on the street will see an uptrend and will be clamoring to take advantage of the new cachet of 57th as billionaire row.

Still mystified by the dark cladding:

I still think it's to keep mechanical equipment in the crown hidden from view. The cladding at the top is opaque while the rest is translucent. The north face has vents, the east and west have the dark cladding, and the curved south face is where the window washing equipment comes out of.
