Still doesn't make sense. The top panels could be made opaque and light-colored.

You are 100% right.

Besides, not only do those dark panels look out of place but, worse, they are not reflective. If you don't believe me, take a look at any pictures taken on a beautiful day.

The idea of adding a darker shade of blue at the top was not a bad idea in itself. But it should have been done in a more nuanced way (less dark) and the panels should have been made of reflective glass (like the rest of the tower)

This tower is so beautiful that it is really infuriating.

Question about the top cladding.

How did the building look in the renderings? Did it have those dark blue panels?

The render is so much better. Unlike real pictures, We can clearly see that all different shades of blue harmonize perfectly with each other. Too bad...

This building would have looked awesome in all dark panels, a bronze colored trim, and bronze colored patterns at the top (think Chrysler building, but in bronze and curved as is).

It may be a dated look to some, but with the right design elements and especially the roof curvature it could be modern art deco look that screams luxury and status.

Probably $32,000 - $100,000, depending on the floor. That's $3,000 - $10,000 per square foot.

Is it possible the dark panels are screens or vents? That might explain their non-reflective appearance.

If they had provided a better transition from the light to dark cladding, it wouldn't look so distinct. If they added a few more dark panels below it, it might look a bit better.

Second to last picture- I like how they designed the entrance. Pretty creative. And it even shows up in the renderings.
