How can the cladding be so elegant on the south facade and yet so childish in the other ones? It's a shame.

Anyone know why scaffolding is going back up along the front of building?

They made the park-facing glass the same because otherwise the view would have been distorted by the different colors. Some windows would be obviously darker than others. Why they didn't think it would ruin the east and west views too is a mystery. The entire building should have been glazed with the park-side glass. The shape of the building is unique enough to hold visual interest. The multi-colored glass lacks elegance.

I think the South side with the stripes is gorgeous, but I would agree that the east and west sides would have been better plain.

While I don't hate it the thinking about One57 and 432 Park Avenue has switched.. the multicolored glass glazing while impressive from a distance doesn't nearly hold up as well up close. While the striped, more evenly hued side has a classic look the other sides just don't have because of that. 432 Park, as simple and elegant as the design is seems to be making more of an impression as a really great building, a true iconic presence fit for New York City. Common wisdom beforehand(and YIMBY refers to it on his site) was 0ne57 being the elegant, iconic one and 432 being tall but awkward, so plain and dull. One57 isn't a bad building by any means but going with a cleaner glazed window look would have made it a classic. Now it's a nice complement to much more stunning buildings, most noticeably larger, going up around it but not really much more save for its height and that gorgeous one side.

Wow, that's uncanny. I thought it was a render! I've got to say, regardless of the pattern, that glass is impressive in just how much it shines.

If it is completed, how come I haven't seen pictures of its crown lit?

That's one of the features I've long been waiting for.

Those opaque panels look like pieces of plastic, the cladding would have been amazing.
