The wind screens are lifted since the last update..Look closely..Last time there was 17 floors visible on the right site of the building..Now I count 19 visible..The same thing on the left side..Only part which is not moving right now is the middle part..Don't forget that at this point there's another setback, so it takes longer to adjust wind screens with setback..

I'm not so sure. When I count from the very bottom of the metal platform to the bottom of the center part of the wind screen I get five floors from two weeks ago and five floors from these pics. It doesn't look like the metal platform moves so I am not sure there is movement.

When I go to look this weekend I can see the 58th Street side and there I have a way of comparing the windscreen to floor panels on the adjascent building. That should be definitive.

No matter what, it does seem to be going slower the last couple of months. Can the weather be a factor in that? For example, with very hot humid weather does concrete take longer to set and hence they can't build new floors as fast because they concrete below isn't fully dried and set?

I don't think concrete is the reason..At least it shouldn't be..Weather like that can only help..I think that there are some structural problems..Curved setbacks + flat wind screens can be tough combination right now..

Concrete is always slower than structural steel. I wonder if core work is also slowing the process...

No core in this one..Only elevator shafts..Which are being poured at the same time as everything else..So that shouldn't be either..

Extell lands loan for tallest residential tower

By Theresa Agovino
July 29, 2011

Extell Development Co. has reached a deal to secure a $700 million construction loan from Bank of America Corp. for its already-rising skyscraper on West 57th Street, said sources close to the transaction.

Extell broke ground early last year without a loan for what will be the tallest residential building in the city, a 1,005-foot tower across from Carnegie Hall. The property will include a Park Hyatt Hotel and about 136 high-end apartments. The city's tallest residential property is currently New York by Gehry, which is downtown on Spruce Street. It is 870 feet tall.

Financing Near for Major New York Condo-Hotel Tower

By CRAIG KARMIN
July 29, 2011

Extell Development Co. is on the verge of securing a $700 million construction loan for the 1,000-foot condominium and hotel tower it is building on West 57th street across from Carnegie Hall, according to people familiar with the matter.

Bank of America and Banco Santander are leading a lending group that is in the process of syndicating the debt. A deal could close before the end of September, say people familiar with the matter.

The developer's partner in the $1.4 billion project is an Abu Dhabi government fund, which controls most of the equity. That fund is also supporting the loan by agreeing to buy any unsold condo units at a certain price, these people say.

Extell has already begun construction of the project which now stands 22 stories above ground. Up until this point, it has been financing work entirely with equity.

That explains the slowdown: Extell was literally running out of its own cash! Hopefully the loan went through so this tower can shoot up.

Hopefully, the equity investors from the Persian Gulf will focus their attention on Extell's even taller tower a few sites away at 225 W57th!

Oh man... 22 floors. How many floors were built for Chicago's Waterview? Hate those empty concrete shells!
