@Kanto, 30 million for what would probably be a penthouse is nothing new. At least in New York City.

Concrete talks scheduled for Tuesday afternoon

By Daniel Massey
August 2, 2011 1:08 p.m.

"...Local 18a members who gathered near the World Trade Center site Tuesday morning said that concrete workers had also walked off their jobs at Extell Development's Carnegie 57 project, a luxury hotel and high rise project across the street from Lincoln Center. A call to Extell was not returned. "

oh gosh. So no it will go from very slow to no progress at all!?!?!?

If this doesn't get resolved in a reasonable time frame it could even derail projects. They are losing lots of money on financing costs every day this is uncompleted.

True. This might have begun as a minor disagreement but ended up being a catastrophe for NYC

From what I know it was the PA having no contract with the concrete workers since begin of July. But I'm sure other forumers will know more.

^Now they're back.

WTC Work Stoppage Continues for Third Day

Quote:
Contractors recently filed complaints with an independent arbitrator over stoppages by concrete workers at four other construction sites in the city, according to people familiar with the matter. Those sites were included in agreements that forbid strikes or job actions.

The sites include the renovation work at Madison Square Garden and construction at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Two World Trade Center and a new development on West 57th Street. On Tuesday, the arbitrator issued a cease-and-desist order in favor of the contractors and instructed the concrete workers to return to work.

“They are back working [at those four sites] to my knowledge. And that’s helpful,” said Steven Spinola, president of the Real Estate Board of New York, a lobbying group.

This building now has its financing and its concrete workers back. Time to roll.
