Can't go down to see it today because ALL public transportation in NYC is shut down.

I'll see if they re-open tomorrow.
Word is they may not even be open for MONDAY AFTERNOON rush hour. It all depends how bad this thing is... Hope you're being safe!

I am currently assuming that is a worst case situation which is not likely to actually happen. Though the two lines I rely on - the A train and the number 1 train - are both very vulnerable to this due to the A going to the Rockaways and the 1 going to South Ferry which is likely to be flooded.

I am confident I'll be safe.

How do you get stuck in the middle of the intersection at a red light? By pulling out in the middle ready to turn but people are in the crosswalk and the light turns red?

If there is traffic, you might enter the intersection before the other side of the intersection has cleared. If the light at the next intersection then turns red and traffic stops, you might be stuck, blocking the cars that are trying to go across on the intersecting street.

It's really bad for traffic flow, which is why the fines are steep. Basically they don't want you to enter an intersection unless you are sure you can exit it.

And that is breaking the law! You are not allowed by law to enter an intersection if you can not safely proceed across it. Stopping in the middle is against the law.

Went by here today. They worked through Irene :-) It is up two floors since I last saw it. They will have to jump the crane again soon. It is two stories above its neighbor and growing fast.

No cladding yet but they seem to be back moving fast on this again so I think it has to start soon.

E-mailed pics to Dino and hopefully he can post them soon.

Here they are..Thanks Dan..

You asked why are they building floors above the windscreens..It's nothing unusual, I guess they just have some parts to build where windscreens would be on their way..They'll lift them soon..On the 57th street they can't lift them because of the curved setback which is being built right now..Also, there's that crane support with which is connected to the building..They have to build floors above first so they can attach windscreens on it above the support..

Thanks Dino:

This is really starting to break out. From the renders it is clear they will soon have smooth sailing for a lot of floors with no setbacks or anything to slow them down. I predict a huge growth spurt of this thing through the end of the year.

And in about 8 more floors it will really be noticeable to regular people on the street as a new skyscraper.

You're right..After this setback, expect "flyout" for the rest of the summer and fall..I guess when winter comes, things will slow down again..

Lend Lease is pretty big here. They have done quite a few projects in NYC for the past few years.
