Actually, you should be able to at least go inside the hotel that will occupy the lower floors.

Would you not be able to view it? Just pretend you are rich and and have a view.

I'm pretty sure for $98 million dollar properties, they do some screening first... You can't just call them up and request a tour. But if you have any super-rich friends, maybe you can tag along with them.

That building above has a column of oddly shaped and mismatched windows.

Weird! I guess the building has a 'do your own windows' policy!

I still can't imagine the feelings of the tennants in the two buildings behind this supertall as it goes up. Park views today, gone tomorrow...

I bet there was a lot of NIMBYing because of that before 157 was approved.

Are the buildings in front of this (essex house etc) luxury apartments? They look very dated, tired and ugly.

Everything with a central park view is luxury.

September 30th, 2011

I took these shots from the 14th floor of Hunter College on 68th street and Park Avenue. I work there, but not on that floor, luckily no students were in classes today due to a holiday and I could take the shot! (Sorry they are a bit hazy, I had to take the shots through windows which were dirty. :P)

^Please don't apologize for the slightly hazy pictures. I believe you are the first to provide pictures from a higher up vantage point, showing just how much this thing is growing. We appreciate your pictures very much

Brick and stone cladding is a higher quality cladding than is typically found on most highrises. I consider those buildings to be high quality, picturesque, and classy. New York would be far worse if everything was glass facade. Weathered stone and brick shouldn't be considered bad. The most highly admired cities in the world are comprised of buildings that are considered tired, dated, and ugly at first glance.

Not that One57 will be bad. Rather, I'm glad that every building won't be exactly like it. New yorks mixture of periods and styles is amazing!

Not really. The building started construction before the design and height was release. Roberts might be the only person who know about it lol.

Derek2k3, WNY..

They're moving the crane up to building..Or parts just wait up there to be installed..The facade will probably start after that..

+1. Any and all updates are appreciated. I was in CP last week and a few friends asked me what this was, and after I told them they all shrugged off a 1000 foot tower being built. Their basic response was, 'So what another big skyscraper in Manhattan, what else is new?' Welcome to NY I guess.
