Wow, amazing pics. Looks like they are setting up a second crane on the building to bring materials up to the existing floors. Makes total sense given that they only have one crane for such a big structure.

Interesting stuff there, I wonder if the first tower crane will stop growing due to the setbacks coming up. Cranes aren't my fortress but I guess there's a lenght limit to the supporting horizontal stuff attached to the tower's structure. Hmmm....

I'm afraid there won't be 2 cranes..As you can see, one is more than enough since they're fast as hell..I would go with 2 possibilities..This one goes up on that setback or those parts are just for erection but they lifted them up so they have more space down for material arriving..Time will show..

Yeah, I wouldn't think that there would be enough room for to cranes on this site. I'd say the same, either there just new pieces or there moving the current crane there to free up space on the ground.

There's plenty of room for another crane. The glass fitters and people fitting the apartments below out may require a separate crane to lift as the other one will be concentrating on concrete.

Cranes are too expensive for using them just for glass..Glass panels are being lifted with small hydraulic arm which looks like BMU from a few floors above..

Something like this:

Be honored that I wasted it on your reply..

Why is needed second crane..Not for glass panels, I doubt they would pay a crane to do this when there's easier and profitable solution..Faster construction?

Its pretty interesting, the radius of the first crane was pretty limited, and now two... I may assume that the newer one will replace the first one, as you've said there's no need to spend more money with two cranes fully operating in such a project.

Exactly, since the building is only getting smaller..I thought that too..I do know that the old one can't grow to the top of building because of setback up there..I'm looking forward to see if they are gonna remove the old one now or in the future and if so, how high will grow..The new one will grow to the top, that's for sure..

I'm starting to suspect that if they're just relocating the crane to the new position it would be totally reasonable. The distance between the crane and the tower structure gets longer (~32') at the new setback and even more up to the 58th setback (47') Such large distance between both structures (tower's and crane's) aren't safe. The position of the second crane is far more strategic than the first one, on this face of the building there are no setbacks, and the distance between crane-tower structure is way shorter.

edit: it's almost the same hypothesis you wrote in the previous post, meeehhh I need to refresh more often haha..

Yes, exactly, if the old crane keep growing, it would reach the height where it can't be attached to the building to be safe enough..That is where the biggest and last setback is up there..

Now only question is if the old one is gonna stay or not..
