LA's little sister Long Beach after a rain storm

Yep I decided to get off my lazy behind and go and take some photos after a break from the rain.

As you can see many photographers were thinking the same thing. We all had hoped to get photos of the snowcapped mountains. But the clouds hadn't cleared away from them just yet.

In the background is one of our oil refineries located in Carson.

That is LA's Wilshire Center skyline in the far background some 20 plus miles away.

Another view of the Oil Refinery to give you a glimse of how huge it is.

The huge white building in the middle (Long Beach Memorial) is one of three largest hospitals in the city of Long Beach.

I was born there; moved away when I was just 4, several decades ago. Some of my earliest memories were going to the beach and seeing the islands off shore with the palm trees, assuming, of course that they were the home of Gillian and his friends! And is there a large indoor swimming pool near one of the beaches? I have vague memories of that place.

Thanks for the memories!

You are talking about the Belmont Pool in the Belmont Shores neighborhood. There is also a pier next to it, and a really nice Brewry (restaurant) with great views of the beach and the skyline to the north of it.

If I remember correctly, there were some swim competitions done there during the 1984 Summer Olympics.
