After months of waiting, the much-anticipated Golden Mile Project of Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula has finally commenced.

Contrary to what I’ve posted a few weeks back, the ongoing pile driving behind the City Tourism Hall is for the river boulevard project and not the proposed Legislative Building. However, based on recent news, the legislative building would follow soon together with the proposed redevelopment of the Community Amphitheater.




The Golde Mile is a flagship project of Mayor Jaraula and designed to attract more investors and tourists. The initial phase consists of a 600-meter long “walkway” from City Hall to the 5th (Kagay-an) Bridge, and a one kilometer “Boulevard” from Toribio Chaves Street to J.R. Borja Street. The project also aims to promote Cagayan de Oro River.











The Golden Mile is envisioned to be a mixed use development and part of the city’s central business district. As an added bonus, the construction of a 30-storey condotel by Korean proponents at the back of the amphitheater is also expected to follow soon. Accordingly, the city government has purchased the lot owned by the Chaves Family where the condotel will be constructed. Per radio interviews, the Chaves Family also donated for the amphitheater project.

its nice to know that there are a lot of projects in cdeo, misamis oriental and normin. these projects would show that the business climate in our place is really robust.

CdeO flagship projects now shaping up - Jaraula

Cagayan de Oro City (22 July) -- Positive things are now shaping up for Cagayan de Oro City's unprecedented growth and development.

This, after City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula recently announced that the construction of the new multi-level City Hall Legislative and Administrative Building Project will jumpstart next month.

The City Hall Legislative and Administrative Building Project is considered as one of Mayor Jaraula's top priority projects which aims to give the members of the City Council and the general public a more spacious and convenient workplace.

Other notable positive developments, Mayor Jaraula said is the fast tracking of the implementation of the P10.7-million river bank protection project which is part of the initial phase of the "Boulevard Along The Riverbank Project".

The City Mayor hopes that the river bank protection project- an integral part of the 600-meter "walkway" from City Hall to Kagay-an Bridge and the kilometer-long "Golden Mile" from Toribio Chaves Street to J.R. Borja Street, would be finished before the city fiesta celebration on August 28.

Part of the conceptualization of the "Golden Mile" is the construction of a walk bridge with a viewing deck and coffee-cum-souvenir shop that will span across Cagayan de Oro River, from the present Amphitheater area connecting towards barangay Carmen on the opposite riverside.

Jaraula said another project that recently started is the redevelopment of the Gaston Park into a theme park depicting the rich, unique arts and culture of the Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Filipino people through creative landscaping.

Mayor Jaraula is also planning to install a state-of-the-art dancing fountain on the Gaston Park, featuring a spectacular display of water screen and lights that will surely provide an amazing and breathtaking spectacle for residents, visitors and tourists.

To give tourists and sightseers more convenient and hassle-free time while strolling around Gaston Park, the City Mayor bared plan to convert the present tennis court near Cathedral into a multi-level pay parking building through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) scheme, thus, make the park's surrounding a no-parking area for motor vehicles.

These developmental efforts, according to Mayor Jaraula is geared towards the realization of what he called as "interior decoration projects", noting that the major infrastructure facilities have been undertaken by the previous administration. (City Information Office) [top]
