I use glue because is better. Tape will eventually fall off and ruin the model.

Ok I used no cartboard and that does work alot better. But now I was making the Sears tower (cuz it's not so hard to build and my first one) and I did the first part went good and than the second half of the tower on top of it but didn't have the same size. So word which I put it on rescales it and because of did I can't make the tower. I tried Paint and that doesn't resize it but let's you print it on different a4's. So for a model which needs 1 page it splits it in to 4 quarters and prints in different parts . So that doesn't work. Here some photo's to show what I mean:

So do you have any solutions to solve this problem?

BTW: I saw you live in Chania, I have been on Crete in Malia and also been in other places like Agios Nikolaos, Heraklion, Knossos and some other places. Very nice ther but alot of tourists coming (to many).

Try to put margins on 0...Then will fit...

Thanks for you kind words, hope you enjoyed your stay in Crete. I try to be there as often as possible.

As for the model size, its far better if you print them all from Microsoft Paintbrush. Just right click and edit in the picture of the model. Go print setup and be sure its on 100% scale. That will probably solve your problems. My models, and STR's too, fit in A4 size prints, that is why sometimes they are in 2 or more parts. But if you do it this way there won't be a problem with the scales.

Tomorrow I'll have the Address in Dubai ready. Its almost ready, but I have some problems designing the base.

You can see in the first pages almost all STR models ready, even Sears Tower, without its base though. They are in my house in Chania, the rest, from Burj Dubai on, are here in Athens.

Or you can separate the parts...Cut the parts and paste them each on the new paper...Put margins on 0 and then will be ok...

I use Paint for 100% sized printouts although very large scale models tend to get unevenly split into parts spread across multiple pages

As a quick trial if I want to print a miniature out to fit on one page I use Paint.net (free download paint program - search on google for it).

I've noticed the model sizes that STR quotes for his paper models don't always match up with the actual scale size they're meant to be if 1:1700 is used.

I'll see if I can add a note to the model links to say what the correct heights should be for the models if you want to print them out for the accepted standard of 1:1700 scale.

The true scale of the models is irrelevant, as long as the scale between them is right. So you just have to print everyone with the same way.

Agreed, but in some cases the heights he's stating that the models should be are not correct for 1:1700 scale (for some ) and are correct for others. Implying that printing them all out in the same way may result in some not being 1:1700 scale.

I can't pinpoint particular examples of this possible inconsistency at this time but will dig out the info. I've a little s/sheet of heights which picked up on this.

Best way to be sure is if you know what the correct 1:1700 height of the model should be then you should print it to achieve the 1:1700 scale height. Alternatively, print it out first, assemble it, check its height and resize and reprint if out by a significant amount.

At the end of the day, it may well just be a typo when describing the scale model heights and it doesn't make much of a difference for most but it would be nice to keep as close to 1:1700 as we can.

I don't have paintbrush but paint, that's sort of the same I think. But with word it doesn't work it rescales everytime. And with paint first it was on 4 pages and now I got it on 2 but only 1 page seems like impossible. Any suggestions?

Now I printed one of those 2 pages and it's much larger than the first page I printed. So the thing I already built (see photo's above) was also rescaled without that I noticed it.

Hey it finally works thanks to Dinovabec. I took the different parts apart and printed them all separate. That worked. But now I've all parts I'm almost done but I don't know how some parts have to be positioned, can someone (rei...?) post a picture of his Sears Tower model. Than I know where to put the parts. Thanks.

Almost done my first tower took me very long... Hopefully it will go faster with towers I build in the future.

I don't have the sears towers in Athens with me, its in Chania, so I can't photograph it now. Fold the pieces and try to match them without glue first. As for The Address, I have some bugs with the base, but its coming out quite good. I'll post it maybe later today or tomorrow. After it is done, I'm waiting suggestions for the next project!

You can find on the internet pics of the Sears from all angles...It's easy with those pics...

Look at Sears Tower on Google Earth, you can then see ALL angles of the building! Just make sure 3D Buildings is turned on

Here you can see it: it's on the right place (I think) but ther are two open gaps.

And here another pic to show it better. Look at the other tower. That's the first half of the tower I made before which was scaled down by Microsoft Word.
