Thanks for sharing the impressive photos!
It's such a massive project; just hope it's all ready in time for the Commonwealth Games.

Terminal 1D- This terminal currently handles all domestic passengers...by October, this terminal will be the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, used for no-frills airlines. Full fare airlines will shift to Terminal 3.

This happened on one of the then revamped domestic terminals on a night of unprecedented rains and strong winds six months back. Such issues can happen anywhere in the world. Delhi will have one integrated terminal, once the new T3 opens later this year, so these existing terminals are there to serve only an interim purpose.

This was posted before, not sure the relevance of a repost after 6 months

I will be done by March-April 2010 and Air India will shift to the terminal for testing and operational readiness. After all testing is done, it will open in June and all domestic and international airlines will shift here while low cost carriers will remain in current domestic terminal 1D.

1. 8000 MT of structural steel used for building the roof. The structure is designed to take maximum windspeed and built according to Seismic Zone V requirements;

2. Galvanized iron sheet work completed;

3. Cement board being laid for good insulation and to prevent condensation;

4. Angled skylights to allow daylight and to protect the interior from direct sunlight. The use of natural light would reduce the dependency on artificial light during day-time;

5. Vapour barrier for the roof to protect against vapour and moisture

6. Durable Kalzip layer to protect against ultra-violet rays (Kalzip is aluminum sheet coated with poly vinyl di-floro ethylene);

7. Roof with completed kalzip layer and skylights

8. Roof extract fans for Air Conditioning system;

9. Structural steel works completed for roof of Piers;

10. Vapour barrier at the roof of Piers;

11. The completed roof sheet. Roof structure is primarily designed as per international standards for water tightness and meeting acoustic and temperature requirements. Lot of importance has been given to aesthetics as well.

1 Installation of Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB); Over 90% of passengers will be serviced through the 78 Aerobridges at Terminal 3 (T3).

2 The PBBs at T3 facilitate easy and safe wheelchair access onto and off the aircraft.

3 Contact Stands at T3 have been sized to accommodate the largest aircraft in the world. Vibrant colours are used for various contact stands namely green, orange, yellow and red.

4 Shinmaywa of Japan and ThyssenKrupp of China have installed 21 and 57 PBBs respectively at the International and Domestic piers of T3.

5 The piers will house 48 Contact Stands for aircraft.

6 Inside view of PBB — approx 600 passengers can be loaded in an aircraft in one hour using one PBB.

7 PBBs for the largest passenger aircraft in theworld, the Airbus A380, for which PBBs can load 555 passengers in approx 25 mins, if loaded efficiently considering the top deck as business class.

8 Special aerobridge with three “fingers” for use by A380 aircraft.

9 Three out of 48 Contact Stands are dedicated for use by Airbus A380.

10 Six additional Contact Stands and three remote parking bays can be used by Airbus A380 or similar sized aircraft.

11 The Visual Docking Guidance System, installed by Safegate of Sweden, provides information to the pilot about theaircraft position and allows him to dock the aircraft safely with accurate nose wheel position as per the aircraft code requirement.
