62- Pub pub pub

63-

64-

65-

66-

The contrasts are absolutely astounding between the rich and the poor.

Very nice work, I look forward to the next installment.

Some parts of Lima are indeed a bit oppressive at first. The combination of impoverished districts on hills, the gray weather, brownish architecture and the lack of vegetation means that it really doesn't feel pretty at all when you see that for the first time (example in the following picture, which is not mine but found on flickr)

image hosted on flickr

However, behind Lima is far from being the most dangerous city in south America, and if there is indeed violence, these districts are far from being as dangerous as others in more stereotypically tropical and prettier cities.

The differences between social classes are indeed huge, but so are in most of Latin America.

Great pictures, you captured the good, bad (and ugly) of Lima

What was a Frenchman doing in Peru anyways?

thnx for sharing these great pictures..fantastic thread...

I have been many many times to Lima......and for a space of something like ten years...its a lovely city..i adore it...people are great...with a big smile in their faces...despite the huge contrasts once you get know the city a bit better you can actually see it as a whole....wether youre in San Isidro , Barrios Altos , Surco or Rimac...you know you are Lima...and its nice..

Unluckly the city is in fact very very dagerous...if you dont know locals you better stay safe...if you know what i mean....been to Cali as well and i think theres no comparison , like it or not colombian cities now are full of police everywhere , literaly...big cities in brazil i agree...better not be walking on their streets by the sunset...but...i definitely pay the price for it...experiencing South America is one of the best things to do in your life...

I agree Lima at first gives you this impression...but lets face it..all latin american cities are about contrasts..theres big slums underneath new highways in Santiago...theres La Boca next to Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires and not to mention richness distribution in Brazil..where you can also be in a first world kind of place and then in : India...
