Terme Catez to Invest Almost EUR 30m in Sarajevo Spa

The Terme Catez spa continues its efforts to expand the Sarajevo Terme Ilidza, in which the Slovenian company controls a 90-percent stake. As Terme said on Friday, 13 February, all is set for the construction of a water park estimated at SIT 3.4bn (EUR 14.3m).

The entire investment in Ilidza is to amount to SIT 7bn (EUR 29.5m). Outdoor pools are to open as early as this summer, while indoor facilities will be ready to receive guests in autumn. Terme Ilidza will also offer a tropical garden with a restaurant and other accompanying facilities.

The second stage of the project, to be launched in 2005, includes the construction of a hotel, a congress centre, a beauty and medical centre and sports facilities stretching over 170,000 square metres.

The Sarajevo spa will be using a thermal water spring at Ilidza.

First construction phase of the Ilidza water park will be completed in June 2005. Second phase include construction of the hotel. All complex after will look something like that on the photo below and it will include summer and winter swimming pools with waves, toboggans and etc.

All from the last few days

Translated from Saray Net

In the devastated building of former hotel Central in Old Town municipality, soon will be begun construction of the largest fitness center in Sarajevo. According to the head of the Municipality (?) Fehima Škaljića, the main project is already finished. Investor "Templeville development limited", by way of it's representatives, formed a firm in BiH which will carry out the job...

On this place will be built a fitness center according to European standards. It will have areas for training, pools, saunas. Work will have to be donw slowly, explained Škaljić, so that the authentic outside look of the hotel isnt spoiled. The project, according to estimates, will be done by the end of 2005.

Other updates:

- The foundation of the Gazi Husrev-beg library has been completed. The Gazi Husrev-beg library will, upon completion, be the largest building in Old Town municipality. The original building in the 15th centuries was probably the best library in Eastern Europe after the Sultan's madrassa in Istanbul.

- A mural of the 1984 Olympic mascot "Vucko", is being rennovated.

Yeah I agree, its great to see nice construction pictures from Sarajevo. Such a busy city with a number of projects. Not only does Sarajevo have heaps of fine old architecture, but there is plenty of new projects that blend in. I like this project ....

Very nice building.

Just one question SinCity, why is it that when a similar building is being built in Belgrade, you say that they cannot build anything taller than a few floors whereas when something is built in any other of the former republics, you always say nice things about it? I find it really funny that people including Serbs always have nice comments to say about construction in Zagreb, yet you always have to put us down with your comments.

Guys did anyone heard about German-Bosnian company Ciglane d.o.o. and his project called "complex Velesici" in Sarajevo worth 300-350 millions KM or about 150-170 millions Euros? According to the Bosnian Weekly magazine "Dani" they was planed to start that project in Sarajevo 2002-2003 in 3 phases. I was heard about that project today but I don't know anything more except that this investment is supposse to be worth from 150 till 170 millions Euros? Now what was happiend with that and did anyone have more info?

The building in Cengic Vila reminds me sort of a slightly futuristic version of the buildings in the Austrio-Hungarian part of town.
