Yeah knowing the puertoricans we all need to wait a lot of time for that rebuild. But happy to have something tough!

very true... the outside facade does not do justice to the airport... on the inside it is very pretty and attractive and has many shops.. but on the outside it does not seem so... it is still one of the best airports Ive been to... not the best... but one of... thats my maybe subjective opinion

this thread made me think of this story i heard on the radio the other day

a woman booked a flight from Canada to Puerto Rico with a travel agent but the flight ended up in Costa Rica cause the travel agent screwed up the two places so the woman got there and no clue where she was

Hasta ahora, sólo Delta y US Airways, y me imagino que añadirán más destinos para eso. El terminal A tendrá creo que 4 puertas de embarque.

So far, only Delta and U.S. Airways, and I think this will add more destinations. I believe the Terminal A will have 4 gates.

I think there needs to be another terminal if the international flights start comming again like they used to(TACA,Virgin,Air France,Air Jamaica, and others from Europe) If H26(Highway to the south of the airport) was buried and if the buildings facing the highway were knocked down(Commerical strip and moved to other areas) a longish skinny terminal maybe with say 12 gates would most likely do and help with the overcrowding found especially with the american airlines terminal and now with more flights wouldn't help either if more Code share flights from Europe start flying into San Juan

lol
your idea with space sounds good.. but i don't think they would ever do that.
at least not within 30 or 40 years..
to deal with overcrowding they have opened up the aguadilla airport to a lot of the popular flights. i think it might be an hour or a little less from san juan by car.

but i agree, the addition of more international flights, especially to the point where it used to be, would make SJU extremely crowded.

i would hate to wait around next to the runway for an hour like i have to when i fly into Newark..

Non-stop passenger (commercial) flights from and to SJU

* Red points are non-stop flights.
* Blue points are seasonal flights and includes: Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal
* Black point is SJU

Virgin Atlantic to launch flights to P.R.
By CB Online Staff

Virgin Atlantic will launch a new weekly service between Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Isla Verde and London Gatwick for the 2009-2010 winter season, the British carrier announced Thursday.

Flights will operate once a week, on Saturdays, from Nov. 7, 2009 through April 24 2010, via Antigua.

“We are delighted to be flying to Puerto Rico, popularly known as the Island of Enchantment, this winter. This colourful, diverse and culturally unique island is a welcome addition to our Caribbean program. From the stunning beaches and tropical rainforests to the charming colonial city of San Juan, there is something for every holidaymaker, Virgin Atlantic CEO Steve Ridgway said.

“The launch of these services allows our sister company Virgin Holidays to offer a range of fantastic cruise holidays from Puerto Rico, meaning that even more Virgin travellers can enjoy what this beautiful island has to offer,” Ridgway added.

The scheduled flights will be operated on a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Virgin Atlantic already flies to Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia, Grenada, Tobago, Havana and Jamaica in the Caribbean and 30 destinations worldwide from the United Kingdom.
