What strikes me is, that this tower has almost the same height and volume as WTC4 does. Look how it stands out, while the former rather blends in with its surrounding.

Well, some folks here in Osaka say pretty much the opposite. It doesn't look that tall, especially from street level.

Thank you for telling us what folk in Osaksa said.

I am always wondering what ordinary japanese people think about this tower.
This is the first supertall over 300m in Japan.
So I am curious how average japanese in Osaka have the attitude toward to it. (The ordinary japanese means the local people who are NOT the big fan of skyscrapers or skyline like people here on SCC.)

They are proud of it or dislike it?
Are they in air of indiffrence to it?
Would you please tell me as a local reporter in Osaka?

Well, actually my statement was a bit misleading. I wanted to say that few gaijins I know agreed on that the tower doesn't look that tall from street level. And I also agree with them.

However, the japanese point of view is largely different from the aforementioned. Everytime I stop by a traffic light I hear two or three people starring at the tower and complimenting how huge and tall it is. And some even starts to argue about its height (Heard one says astronomical number ). Here the Osakans are definitely attracted by this marvel and most who passes by give it a look or two, which is cool I think.

Wow, Marriott hotel will be a tenant of this new building?

Damn, that's awesome.

P.S.
In any case, I think this would be the second hotel for Marriott in Japan that is located on top of a major train station (i.e. the first one is/was the Marriott hotel on top of Nagoya Station)

The cladding on this , doesn't do too much for me, looks sort of like an obselete 50's skyscrapper, just my opinion. I like the huge structual members in it though, looks very sturdy and strong.
