Swiss Alps

Here are some pictures I took while hiking in Switzerland surrounding the settlements/villages of Lauterbrunnen, Muerren, Grutschalp, and Gimmelwald (not to be confused with Grindelwald).
The weather was mostly overcast, but it made for dramatic and moody photos, as well as challenging hiking, since the overflow of water from the mountain tops started to wash away sections of the path. It became quite dangerous actually...we had to run and jump over rushing water taking out the trails, run from a mud slide that i only have video footage of, and we observed several massive rock/landslides on the opposite side of the river valley.

My next post will showcase some of the Swiss cities, when I get around to hosting them.

I live in Switzerland and ive NEVER been on a tour on the mountains, nor have i been to anywhere apart from my city, Lugano. Many people who live here don't visit the usual tourist areas, life in the cities is much different from snowy mountains and red roses.

I'd like to go up north once though, it would be nice.

Honestly, that is the saddest thing I've ever heard. You have easy access to Germany, Austria, France, and Italy right on your doorstep. In Canada here, sometimes we'll drive 2-5 hours one way, just to visit friends on the weekend. You really ought to explore your own country.

Although my pictures are of the beautiful mountains, I assure you it was hardly touristy. Now, some places like Interlaken and Grindelwald are touristy; however, I essentially stayed and hiked narrow paths in very rural areas.

I am familiar with life in Swiss cities though. For the most part, they are also beautiful. Lugano has tons of graffiti, but it lies on a beautiful lake surrounded by hills in a nice climate. Even Zurich and Bern, despite young people protesting politics, high suicide rates (for whatever reason) and graffiti, you have very little to complain about. You should be so lucky that you live in a country like Switzerland.
