I don't think they made ICE shorter, it looks to scale with everything else. The question is did they exaggerate the height of 10 York? It is 10 floors taller though with a larger podium and fins. If approved at 240m, it would be the third tallest behind Trump Tower and Aura.

I think all those buildings are starting to blend now. It would be really great to have a design that pops like the types you see in Chicago. Sigh...

What are you people talking about... the model is exactly to scale, please go to the SSP diagrams to get an idea of the big difference a mere 15m-16m can make, this model is based on a 249m proposal...not 240 and ice is the size it should be.

Chicago has plenty of bland cookie-cutter condos that blend together. Some of theirs make City Place designs look cutting edge.

Chicago and New York have huge amounts of bland cookie cutter buildings, but apparently people in Toronto only "see" them when they are thinking about Toronto.

Obviously I'm not talking about the bland buildings. I'm talking about the the more recent developments and proposals they've put out. Buildings that are cylindrical, buildings with more colour, buildings with spires. Chicago and New York are known for their distinctive architecture.

Yeah, there are some amazing buildings in Chicago and New York; both are known for their architecture. Some stunning ones, actually. Chicago and New York are economically and politically hugely powerful megacities, with lots of wealthy major head offices. Like it or not (and none of us like it)... Toronto is not at the same level yet. But, the point is, there is also a ton of bland boxes in both of those cities, too... it is far from all good like most people seem to imagine.

I think the lesson is that we need at least a few really amazing towers, of world class design, to draw attention away from the cookie cutter condos...they will just become background noise if we do that, and add to the sense of drama of a visually stunning tower. I think it's time Toronto made its presence felt on the world stage architecturally speaking, it might not be New York or Chicago, but it is becoming a global city due to the expansion etc.

Yes, that sums it up well. I'm just saying we need more stand-outs. More incredible towers and not just variations of the same building.

AURA and One Bloor might come close to being those show stoppers many of us wait patiently for. Maybe they'll both fall a little short of that standard, and the wait will go on. Who knows?

With all the talk of Toronto condo market bubble busting, I wonder if this and other proposed projects will be built. Hopefully they all will.

The newspapers are all jumping on the bandwagon to predict a bursting of the bubble. I don't think any of them want to be accused of not foreseeing it, if and when it happens.
There could be a cause and effect from the media reports.

Don't forget the L tower. Those 3 towers (1 Bloor, Aura & L) will reshape our skyline and hopefully, just be the start of more great buildings to come. All of the best new towers are going along Yonge Street. I can't even imagine how that street will feel in 5 years. It will be a whole different environment.

Let's hope they don't fall short. It's bad enough when developers cheap out on their promises and end up building towers that are nothing like what they promised. I'm still upset about losing the boot in L Tower.

There's been some design modifications that were revealed at the public consultation. Looks much better now
