Whats the catch for getting these houses so cheap in Dallas, Houston & Atlanta etc?

First off, I haven't posted on Skyscrapercity in I think years.

Well any way, I was looking around at diffrent cities to see where I could get the cheapest houses posable, I checked Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Dallas, etc and found many homes for under $10,000.

So what is the catch? Do I really get to purcahaes these homes for that cheap?

For instance take a this home in Atlanta for $7,900:

I think its in bankhead, is that why its so cheap?

Here are some in Houston:

And here are some in Dallas:

Tell me what you guys think.

I can see $100,000, but my mind can't seem to believe a house going for $7+ thousand. If I lived in one of these cities, I could easily fix up some of these houses and sale them for more money. Its exciting! I just wish I was one of those people that could pick up and move (which I should be) when I wanted. And I always wanted to flip houses maybe I will check into some of these and do it.

Not sure if it is a "catch." Maybe it is a "deal." I'll say this, you can easily buy a fully gutted home in New Orleans for $10,000.00 to $20,000.00, but, the catch, if you will is that you have to renovate that home with a certain allotted time -it varies by neighborhood but it is winding down. And you also have to lifv in that home fo ra minimum for three years! Good luck!

Go to Detroit and you can get em by a package.
They give the houses for free in order to avoid the crappy image or something like that.

Actually, it's nowhere near Bankhead. Pittsburg is a little area across the freeway from Turner Field. It's not nice, but it's not nearly as bad as Bankhead.

I mean it has a disclaimer practically. There is no catch, you have to buy a burnt out house, it takes a TON of work to get that back up to code.
