Chicago - A splash of Hyde Park

Went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde park last November so one of my daughters could present at a global webcast science thingy about global warming. Had to keep the other 3 busy while we waited for her so we hiked out to the point by 55th.

heading under 57th

Water Crib out on the lake

Looking south

There was a very strong wind, so all we did was look south.

It is never too cold to put stuff in the lake.

Or go out as far as you can on the rocks

Putting in drain pipes - on a very brisk day.

To the point

Let's see if we can make dad nervous.

Looking back at the Museum

Industry

Didn't get too wet last time, can we ....

Eco brick, lets the water pass through, not run off.

back under Lake Shore Drive

Chicago in minature, part of the train layout.

Seattle makes an appearance (intermodal section).

Is this a real building ? [ edit - SeatlleLife - Paul Allen's Experience Music Project ]

A short side trip to Radio Disney, where Norman won the tree decorating contest. It was the day for lighting the Christmas Trees from around the world display.

War Trophy

Dog fight over Christmas

The Conference,

Afterward a quick stop by subway for sandwiches ( E 55th street ) with terracotta across the street.

Difficult to access because of the tight security.

Great shots of Hyde Park. I hope they build Solstice so Hyde Park finally gets a new tower.

Still is, my dad was down there last night and said there are 4 police cars parked in front of his place, when he isn't there.
