Wachau Valley - UNESCO World Heritage

Hi!

About 80km northwest of the Austrian capital, between the towns of Krems and Melk, Wachau Valley is one of Austria's most scenic landscapes. Well known for its vineyards, architecture, and cultural activities, it's an important region for tourism in Austria. A quick stop at Dürnstein and at a Heuriger (wine tavern) should be on every visitors itinerary.

Let's start with Krems, the gateway city to Wachau - only a 1-hour car or train ride away from Vienna:

Good old Wachau

Very beautiful, but I spotted not a single person on your pictures...

Thanks everyone!

Though, I wonder if 'Urban Showcase' was the right subforum to post these in. Especially the remaining photos are far from being urban.

Hm, now that you mention it. I was indeed pretty much the only person walking around. (around 9-10am on a Monday)

Our next stop is the town of Dürnstein. If you only have limited time, this is the place to stop and visit.
