I like the Emporis method, but I think you would almost have to count some buildings under construction. The Wachovia tower and Catalyst condo tower in Charlotte are a few examples. These two towers are not officially complete, but they are standing.
Wachovia image hosted on flickr ![]() Catalyst condo is standing just to the left of Wachovia. image hosted on flickr ![]() Photos taken by poster KB0679. Both of these towers are not included in Charlotte's score of 582. Catalyst stands at 27 floors and Wachovia is currently at it's 50th floor (6 floors to go). These standing towers would give Charlotte an Emporis score of 687. |

It is hard to count, but I think you are right. The top floor does appear to be the 45th. I guess that would technically give Charlotte a score of about 637 instead of 687. This is still a fun thread either way!!!

When the towers are complete we can update our scores and watch the rankings change over time! Of course we can always change the rules again if enough people think thats what we should do. I'm open to suggestions. I'm glad you think it's fun. I do too!

Yeah, then after Wells Fargo/Wachovia and Catalyst in CHLT, you have The Vue, and the Bank of America Building all going up. THe vue being 50+ stories.

I would say they are two seperate but i dont know if they are ranked together. If you're familiar with Tampa Give the number a look and see if it sounds too high, if so St. Pete is probably included.

The core of Wachovia/Duke in Charlotte has reached the top floor so i added 49 points to the score.
Are there any other recently completed projects to add to the scores below. Also, is anyone up to tackling Miami? Houston - 7673 Dallas - 5800 Atalanta - 5364 New Orleans - 2109 Nashville - 1499 San Antonio - 1480 Charlotte - 1393 Austin - 1273 Memphis - 1195 Richmond - 1098 Myrtle Beach - 1025 Fort Worth - 984 Louisville - 853 Oklahoma City - 851 Tampa - 803 Jacksonville - 768 Tulsa - 728 Orlando - 646 Birmingham - 571 Columbia - 544 Irving - 511 Winston-Salem - 505 Norfolk - 489 Sandy Springs - 479 Raleigh - 419 Little Rock - 395 Virginia Beach - 338 Baton Rouge - 335 Knoxville - 328 Chattanooga - 313 Orange Beach - 311 Shreveport - 310 Lexington - 307 Mobile - 291 Biloxi - 238 Metairie - 209 Greensboro - 191 Augusta - 186 Covington - 172 Roanoke - 155 Greenville - 153 Farmers Branch - 150 Jackson - 145 Charleston - 135 Asheville - 131 Durham - 130 Macon - 117 Beaumont - 113 Montgomery - 108 Lake Charles - 100 Gulfport - 81 Wilmington - 79 Waco - 77 Hot Springs - 56 Columbus - 53 Lafayette - 52

If we are including buildings that are not finished, but have been topped out, Spring (43 floors) should be included for Austin. Four Seasons Residences (32 floors) will be by the end of the month. Have you included Ashton (36 floors) and Legacy (31 floors)? They have been topped out for some time.
Austonian will top out later this year, and at 56 floors will give Austin another nice boost to it's total. Last edited by Nic; March 11th, 2009 at 09:37 PM. |

I see Mobile `s rating at 291 that is a bit low if they are considering building floor counts in the city on Emporis.com. If so the numbeer for Mobile would be 663 not 291 and to include the new Hilton hotel down town which has 12 floors I believe it should be 675. Not dising other cities but I just knew that cities like Baton Rouge, Chattanooga, and Knoxville couldn`t have been ranked higher becasue Mobile has a bigger sky line and a more dense downtown than those other cities.
Birmingham should be ranked in 1000`s as well not in the 500 `s |
