My second round of visit to T3 started today.....morning....quite hungry, so i headed to Mac first....

U need to take the sauces and straws from a counter.....boring pic.....good thing i got a sexy model...

If you want to save some money, you could always drink from the water cooler near the toilet near mac.....

As we finished our meal, we started walking around. I saw this group of workers talking about something.....hmm

Maybe they are talking about this....

I was quite curious, so I went up to take a look....guess what I saw later??

The quality of this airport is simply stunning. Very nice! I think this terminal could be the best in Asia if not the world.

it's never good to attack others

anyway zergcerebrates i think your point is valid, just that maybe you could phrase it better. Sometimes a professional designer's opinion may be necessary and i don't think it's a good idea to completely reply on a small proportion of tourists.

the reason that we pointed out all these is that we all wanted to make Changi airport PERFECT. please don't get offended easily.

and talking about Beijing T3, I don't think there's good reason to compare with in the first place. the two airports have completely different styles and passenger targets. Beijing T3 focuses more on the terminal size, the incorporation of traditional Chinese cultural elements, and efficiency (to my surprise, PEK T3's luggage system is going to be almost twice as fast as that in Changi T3). Honestly If you were to ask me to choose, I'd prefer Beijing T3 for it's grand size and unique characteristics (where else can you find a red/orange ceiling?)

Just my personal thoughts. Anyway, please don't attack others in the forum!

@ iehelyn

But it lacks the homey feel of the Changi's Terminal 3. Plus, lots of minor decorative details at Beijing-Capital International Airport's Termina 3 are extremely tacky (e.g., blue-light scheme lighting in steam-enabled moat for a mini-temple within the departure hall).

Now, don't get me wrong. Beijing's Terminal 3 looks way better than Changi's Terminal 3 from the outside. But the third terminal of Singapore-Changi International Airport has, hands down, the best interiors that I've seen so far.

Quite true.

I believe Changi had almost 10 years to design the new terminal, and hence many minor details are excellent.

Beijing Capital T3, on the other hand, was really designed in a rush (within 1.5 yrs?) in order to meet such a rapid and unexpected passenger growth. Many details within the airport terminal lack thoughtful considerations. With such a huge terminal, efficiency should be their top concern.

and AceN: attacking others simply reflects badly on you.

In my opinion, Singapore's Changi airport's approach is to divide a large airport into smaller terminals. The good point of this approach is that most passengers, other than those on transit which are unlucky to find their next plane parked at the opposite end of the airport, will not need to travel long distances from the immigration checkpoint to the plane or vice versa. But it gives an impression that the airport isn't that large. I've got quite a number of friends that come over from Hong Kong that commented that Changi Airport is quite small but they have only seen the single terminal they were using.

On the other hand, Hong Kong's airport approach is to let the passengers feel that the terminal is very huge. The first time I use the Hong Kong's new airport, my plane docked at one of the further bays. I was cursing as I find myself walking over a rather long distance with rather heavy hand luggage only to be met with a very large crowd of passengers waiting to clear immigration. But it does give an impression that the airport is huge.

As for Beijing's new terminal, I am not sure what is their emphisis is on as it is not open yet, to give a very large impression or to minimised the distance passengers need to travel to get to the plane. Or they have found a way to let the passengers feel the grandness of the airport while also able to minimize the distance needed to travel.

The above is solely my impression and it is not to say which approach is superior, it may just be what the designer or govt wish to emphasis on when the terminal is built. Or maybe there are other reasons that are also considered but not known to the layman in me.

I'm fine with constructive comments.....anyway whatever is reflected here, it would be subjective......so quite true, thats how the real world works, we can't force people to like things we like and vice versa....

I think whatever we do, mutual respect is important.....so lets keep it this way.....

Cheers.
